I have an electrical cross feed problem that I have been unable to solve and it is driving me nuts
When I turn the ignition on, (with the lights switched off), the side/rear/ ignition lights come on -
When I turn the side/rear lights on (with the ignition switched off), the side/ rear lights come on and so does the ignition light
I have removed the inspection door on the firewall and through the jumble of wires I can see no obvious fault
I removed the light switch and isolated it from the car but still wired up - no change in the problem!
I have studied the wiring diagram and done a web search but without success
Your help would be much appreciated

Sounds like an earth (neutral) fault ?

Sounds as though the ignition light is missing its earth and finding an alternative route to earth via the side/rear lights or/and vice versa. Look for corroded grounding points?

Dismantle the earths clean & rebuild. don't just visually inspect them. My Roadster I thought might need a new starter but the earths were corroded. Here is where they are on my car. Yours might be different. Earthing points

Although not exactly the same as the problem you are having, I recently had a closely similar problem on my ‘61 Plus 4 and the culprit was a faulty light switch. If you can swap out your switch with a known working one at least you can rule that out as the cause. A new switch solved my problem and at very minimal cost.

Quite a different issue but this reminded me of a small 98cc Gilera motorcycle that I owned. It was built in the '60s and had no battery. Probably for some sort of safety reason the ignition circuit went to mass (earth) through the brake light switch (normal closed) . This was organised in such a way that when the brake was applied the switch was open so the path to mass was through the brake light bulb. The result of all this was that if the brake light bulb was blown the engine cut out when the brake was applied. It took me a while to understand why the motor cut out every time the brake was applied.
