Ok, not strictly Morgan related but as I’m running out of things to do I’m sorting my toolboxes I think it would look cool to fit out my drawers with foam to hold all my sockets, spanners etc in place. My question is are there any techniques to cut the foam? Looking on YouTube it looks easy enough to cut out the shape with a sharp scalpel but is there a better way of removing the “waste”?

Have you bought the laminated foam like the stuff Sealey offers?

I just used a Stanley knife but it wasn’t very tidy.

I’ve not bought anything yet - still researching the options. The foam from machine mart looks interesting

Most seem to use a scalpel but this guy is using a router.

I use the non slip perforated stuff used under rugs, £1 a roll from Poundland. Works great!

I used the original Shadow Foam (not the laminated version) for my spanner(s) set.

This is 3 layer,housed in a Bosch L Boxx ** -








I used a scalpel to cut the foam - the top (coloured) layer is firm, almost 'crusty'.A change of blade half way through helps too.

I like the finished result but sadly, still think the foam is a tad overpriced......

Nice Job. I took a different approach. As quite a few of my tools are from Teng in their tool control system trays, I got some grey PLA filament and used the 3D printer to make some holders, gradually working my way through the entire tool cab.

A couple of years back , you mentioned that you had bought one of the 12volt Bosch Angle Grinders and it was brilliant.

Up until then I had thought they were probably too underpowered to be much good but, given your recommendation.....

Not content with this ,you then recommend some new work shoes with a clever fastening system (can you see where this is going...?) -

Having followed him around the NEC tool hall I can confirm Tim is a committed "Toolaholic"..

He's as slick as his ferrets around those stands..!

An electric carving knife cuts foam very well. I mean the kitchen elec carving type which consists of two serrated blades which slide against each other. Gives a very clean cut through foam. I can't remember who showed me this but as the knife was useless in the kitchen it became very useful in the toolkit.
