My spanners are in a big heap and are not shiny at all - I do ,though, have a good idea where the one I need is located - just can't ask anyone to help as they would spend so much time just seeking the one I need! -- must get motivated to put them in proper order!!!!

Can't see the point really

All I do is is wipe my spanners down with an oily rag after I've finished with them and put them back in the appropriate drawer of my roll cab, simple

Mine are organised following the chaos theory. I allow them to increase entropy but generally I can find them now I have recycled the kids old furniture to the garage & have drawers.
This week I cleaned & refilled the grease guns that live in a plastic crate.

why is it that the tool that is hardest to find is the one you just put down? Human memory has no re-wind button

I think they have a life of their own and sometimes slip in and out of a wormhole in space and time.

And when you do find it it is always in the last place you looked.

Of course it was in the "last place you looked", who keeps searching after they have found it doh

It is also why we buy a tool because we can't find the old one and then bang you find the old one.

I've only ever shared two tools, and I have neither of them.

One was a Colourtune.

The other was........ummmm.........oh an SPQR tappet adjuster.

Thankfully I don't need either, but I no longer share tools

When I fitted Cain's crosmember skidplate, one of the allen headed setscrews launched into my pit and vanished. After a thorough detailed search I failed to find it.

Cain was happy to send me a replacement, and the weeks went by, with no sign of this setscrew. It had vanished into the time vortex.

Then one day I pulled out a "cellared" bottle of wine from the rack (in the pit), and there it was........lodged at the very back of the wine rack.
