Back in October last year I had the then new SSL Suspension upgrade for all S4 series Aero chassis cars fitted with generally positive results. But swmbo's illness and then Covid 19 severely curtailed the use of Tarka.
In recent weeks two more than well experienced Aero Pilots, Neilda and Aeroman of this parish have tried the car. Aeroman had a 1 hour drive yesterday, back to back with his Plus 8.

Both commented VERY favourably. The general feeling was that the poor road nervousness had gone, the car felt much more planted and drove like a modern GT car, rather than an improved old Morgan. Cornering is also more predictable and although there is a slightly increased amount of roll this almost helps the car turn in.
The new PusSix isn't as good and neither is the PlusFour, although it is better than the Six

So, where does that leave me with Tarka? I have a great and comfortable, quick car. There is no chance of me changing it.
What else might I do?
Well, talking to a friend it seems it may be possible to fit a switchable silencer by-pass...so straight through from cat to tail pipe. I'll let him try it, but it could make the car sound...well, as a big V8 should.... evil

SSL Suspension upgrade --> I may have missed that. Can you remind me what you did and how much was it? Would that fit my 2010 AeroSS as well?
switchable silencer by-pass --> This I LIKE! listening

Ale,

The suspension upgrade was developed by SSL (Peter Ballard) and is distributed by Librands. It comprises new front and rear coil over units with revised spring rates and shocks by Spax, adjustable for ride height, pre-load and rebound. I had mine fitted by Librands, but other dealers will fit. I'll PM you Peter Ballard's e-mail, I suggest you follow up with him. It will certainly fit your AeroSS, but might need slightly revised settings at the rear as you have a lot more bodywork than a Plus 8!

Peter

Sounds very impressive and interesting to hear it compared to the new Plus Six and Four.
I thought the new CX models would be similar in performance to the chassis of the Aero platform. cheers

Interesting comment on the better tuck in despite increased roll Peter.

When Dan and I went for a test drive after fitting the prototype SSL dual rate coil overs for the factory 5 link rear on my Roadster, it was the second thing I noticed, first being the smoother ride over moderate bumps. My thoughts are that without a roll bar softer initial suspension travel inevitably allows more roll, however the subtle but sudden increase in spring rate then checks that to limit further roll in a more efficient manner than OE.

All, I've asked Librands for the UK price of the parts and will post tomorrow.
Fitting costs: as it needs the bonnet, cowl and wings off the labour will be several hours. I'll see if I can get a figure from Tony at Williams.

OK, directly from Williams Morgan

Parts £1200 +VAT
Fitting £600 +VAT.

So just over £2k if done as a single job. The labour is mostly the time taken to remove the front scuttle, cowl, bonnet and wings, then re-fit them.
