Since my nearest dealership is a solid 3 day drive each way I doubt any MMC people will get their hands on the ECU. If I did anything with it I would get an unlocked ECU mapped for the cams already..

We will see how it runs, and after all I was looking for a smooth running engine and not necessarily more power, but I did expect an upgrade in power would happen.

You can contact Garage56 or KrazyHorse to purchase the unlocked version...

I was lucky, my ECU was unlocked from day 1 but I didn't know until I went for the cams and a re-map at Crazy Horse.

Your ECU may not be locked.

You can easily find out by connecting S&S ProTune.

In what way? Less power? If so how much less?

It sure would be nice if S&S would unlock the ECU...

The standard fuelling map has limits on how much adjustment to the injector pulse it will allow, if you run past this limit you will get a Check Engine light and the mixture will be incorrect. The experienced dyno operator at Krazy Horse in the UK told me that running at less than 3/4 throttle, in closed loop, for a time would be OK but going over that and running a lean mixture will damage your engine. You need an (unlocked) ECU with a map for the Stage 2 set up you are running, or risk damaging your expensive S&S engine. No point in doing all the Stage 2 stuff and running at under 3/4 throttle all the time, is there?

As of about a month ago, they told me that they will have a new one available very soon. Krazy Horse also do one optimised for Stage 2. What you will miss out on is the tuning necessary to get the best out of your cam upgrade.

That is the response I got from G56 over a month ago.

Since I don't live anywhere remotely close to either location and I have had super bad experiences having work done across the pond I certainly would not ship my ecu to them to unlock it. I might purchase one from either place and pray it arrives in my lifetime.

Is your unlocked? If so who tunes it for you here or do you do it yourself?

Stephen I bought an unlocked ECU from Garage 56 and they load the right maps based on your set up for you. The ECU also auto tunes up until it hits the max adjustment threshold. The good news is with the unlocked ECU you can merge the maps where the adaptive map is loaded as the base line map and the adaptive learning will continue from there. I did not try to make the factory ECU work however I know with the garage 56 maps I actually hit the max threshold until I merged the maps.

Emil I believe is running a stock ECU however Morgan reflashed his ECU to a stage 1 I believe.
