As, has been stated before on other threads, a crack may not always be visible to the naked eye until it is in the final stages before it parts company completely. This being the case, even regular inspection may not pick up the problem, or the crack may be located in a position where it is impossible to see clearly.

Not what I think of as a crack, looks like it’s broken completely in half! I know these vehicles are expensive to buy but wonder how much profit Morgan have actually made from them with all the problems they have had.

The time/miles the machine was operated before the brace was installed, road conditions where operated, and manner in which it's driven are all significant variables that can only reduce certainty on this subject.
I do find it depressing that as purchaser of a second hand machine, I'm likely looking at a chassis change at some point in the future without any consideration from MMC though this is clearly their issue. Britsobrits, you have every right to be very concerned..... It raises a couple of issues:- 1) It leaves you nervous to drive the car. 2) Unsure if you should engage Morgan now as the vehicle is potentially unsafe and not fit for purpose, and 3) Thinking you should cut your losses and sell it knowing it has the potential to kill or injure someone else Would you give it to your partner, son or daughter to drive ?

My Feb. 2013 chassis has a pair of triangular gussets welded in roughly where your cracks are. I also have the triangulated bolt in brace and I check for cracks regularly and up to press all is ok.
Good luck with the chassis swap although you will end up with the boat anchor NVH assembly as a by product.

Our early 2012 chassis was changed when it cracked and we got a new chassis that had the fixed (non-NVH) bevel box like our original...
I understand that some aspect of the cockpit/rear end (bodywork?) of some of the earlier cars is a bit different and so as not to have to change that as well, the factory was using some form of hybrid chassis (braced front/original rear) for the replacement

I understand that some aspect of the cockpit/rear end (bodywork?) of some of the earlier cars is a bit different and so as not to have to change that as well, the factory was using some form of hybrid chassis (braced front/original rear) for the replacement My chassis is a similar one with the fixed bevel box mounting. I think they may well have taken a NVH chassis, cut off the relevant brackets and welded in the small cross member that the bevel box front mounts attach to. Why do I think this? Because in my recent delvings in about the bevel box and swing arm I found that the cross member wasn't attached quite as far forward as it should be, to the point that somebody had slotted the front mounting holes by hand and by not quite enough to allow it to fit correctly. After some work with a Dremel and a straight edge I have now got my bevel box solidly bolted in place and pointing in the right direction, presumably for the first time since this chassis was fitted. It might well be something to do with the configuration of the bodywork that caused them to do it this way, but I had just assumed that they didn't want to spend money on adding the NVH parts!

Hugo, Do you have some more pics for us ? So it will easier to look on the right place where to search for cracks. It’s astonishing that not more members writing reaction on this thread because this is one of the most serious problems our M3W can have. This is proved by the way MMC react by replacing the chassis. But this doesn’t help the ones who’s having the same “weak” chassis and still need to drive around with it. They all need to keep an eye (day by day, mile by mile) on this dangerous problem and keep the fingers crossed that nothing serious will happen. For me it’s 100% sure the “older” chassis are build from the “wrong” type tubing material. BUT NOBODY WILL EVER ADMIT THAT !!!! It’s like the Covid19 virus. You know it’s there, but you don’t know if you will get it. The bolt-in brace is like a mouth cap. Stay safe, stay in lockdown which means keep your M3W in your garage. Another recall perhaps.....? Owners just need to make the situation clear to the authorities. This has been a known problem since 2014 - there's plenty of evidence.

I got the unwanted NVH ballast when my 2013 had a new chassis in 2017. When the NVH kit was first announced for retrofit I asked my dealer to order it. When it arrived they showed the kit to me but declined to fit it as the time MMC allowed it was unprofitable for them. Good move,it went back to MMC.

If your vehicle came with the NVH would you remove it?
