Hi everyone, I have just bought my first Morgan, a Plus 4 110 Anniversary model in Rhapsody Blue from Melvyn Rutter Ltd.
I took early retirement last July and moved from the mainland to the Isle of Wight in December 2019.
After suffering years of mundane company cars it was time for something different and a bit individual and I have to say so far the Morgan fits the bill.
The more I drive the car the more I bond with it, its bit of culture shock to begin with but a car that needs some driver input at long last.
Not sure why the factory fit door mirrors that give a view of the sky is beyond me but I'm about to put that right with some aftermarket jobbies.
Before I retired I worked for a Major oil company for over 40 years, starting my career as a lubricants chemist, including blending two stroke oils for Barry Sheens race bikes.
I moved onto fuels after 10 years and spent over 30 years dealing with all aspects petrol, diesel, Avjet, and heating oils. So if any of you have oil or fuel questions I may be able to advise or dispel certain myths.

Welcome David and enjoy your new Morgan.

cheers

Your knowledge of fuels, could be really useful in some of the technical discussion that takes place on TM!

Hi David and welcome.

I love the Isle of Wight, so please do post photos of your car with some appropriate backgrounds.

Hello Dave

Our usual discussions on fuels tend to centre on ethanol blends, no problem for you in a new car , but more so for those with older vehicles and fuel delivery systems. I am sure there will be one along soon.

Meanwhile, please don't hesitate to ask anything you need to know. There are no stupid questions here, but lots of folks make silly mistakes by failing to ask.

Welcome Dave enjoy many new happy adventures and the friends you will make with the car.

Our son did his Yacht Masters on the island at UK Sailtraining and we did a day trip on the Boxing day for a meal with him and his girlfriend and his instant guided tour of the island, a lovely place to live.

p.s. We have another IOW resident on here with a blue car.

Welcome to TM.
And yes - those factory fit mirrors are useless. Mrs F still grumbles about buying a car that needs more money spending on it to make it useable on the road.
At least the mirrors are one of the cheaper upgrades you will be doing.

Enjoy your car - and it would be lovely to see pictures.

Welcome Dave from sunny Scotland ( well today at least) I've never been to the Isle of Wight so some pictures would be much appreciated.
I noticed a tweet from Melvyn saying he sold three Morgan's in one day, at that rate we'll all be driving one soon.😁

Crooky/Dave, good to have you aboard, and to read that you are getting to know your Morgan and the advantages it can provide...(-: As one who owns a carb fed Morgan I have interests in that area, though I suspect E5 might be available for as long as I am able to drive if not longer, all be it perhaps more difficult to find in the passage of time..
