oh dear, something else to feel inadequate about, still I hardly have any spanners so best not to think about it ....

It comes from years and years of being skint, grovelling around either outside or in crappy old sheds trying to fix motorcycles and cars with a range of wholly inadequate knackered shite old tools.

I must admit to keeping the vast majority of tools that I’ve used over the last 53 years.
53 years since I first bought a motorbike.
They reside in various toolboxes and tool rolls.
Not in a big tool chest, but I know where most of them are located.

You boys need some serious therapy, those tools look too clean and tidy.

Blimey, is anyone else beginning to feel totally inadequate in the tool department?!

I am a bit envious of some of the tool collections but since the longest I have ever lived in one place is less than 20 years there are very few tools that have survived the moves in the 60 + years since I first started using spanners. Other than tools like socket sets and those that come in their own cases most of my tools are jumbled into various tool boxes. Like Budster I know where most of them are located.

My tools get constant deployment and are no way shiny or neatly stored.

Spanners are in four red plastic boxes, each holding two plastic trays, based on metric/imperial/open ended/ring.

Hammers have drilled ends and hang from pegs under my bench.

Socket sets are in wine boxes, along with allen keys, punches, needle files.

Screwdrivers are all on the wall in a home made simple frame for easy deployment.

Drills are under a small unit, built from brick and timber. On top is a spare battery and charging gear.

Two more plastic tool boxes by Curver. One has all my electrical components, including solder and shrink wrap. The other has pliers, metal snips, Stanley knife, and all my oddball tools, including those made for special jobs.

All my fasteners are on shelves in clear olive pots, by size and thread, plus miscellaneous washers, grommets, fuses, the list is endless.

Under my bench is another wine box full of pullers. Plus my Dremel, pop rivets, soldering irons, files and chisels, threaded studs, blah blah. You get the picture.

My tools are in a series of bashed cantilever metal tool boxes ..... the tools I want in the workshop are in the race trailer and the tools I need on race days have been left back in the workshop .... I know where all my tools are except the one that was in my hand two f***kin seconds ago that I need to stop oil dripping in my eye.

I also have a wide selection of perfectly working cordless drills which need replacement failed batteries that cost more than a new drill complete with batteries.
