I suspect , and have never read otherwise, all Morgan staged upgrade ECU's are supplied open.
I have no idea if third party ECU's do this, worth checking before purchase.
Its possible they could load their map then lock it.

Unfortunately MMC Stage upgrades do not guarantee an unlocked ECU. My Stage 1 (Air filter and exhaust) was supplied and fitted by MMC but my ECU was returned locked. It appears luck of the draw whether they left an ECU unlocked.

To pick up on a few other points:

The ECU simply needs to be powered on to apply a reflash so this could be done without the car. For official MMC changes they provide dealers with a file which unlocks the ECU, applies the new map and then relocks the unit. For info several have tried to work out how to unlock an ECU but as far as I know without success.

The definition of Stage varies by the source of the upgrade. The typical definition is Stage 1 is air filter and exhaust, Stage 2 adds higher lift cams (596 being the most common upgrade as they boost power and torque but remain non interference).

Stage 3/4 can refer to higher lift cams, stronger valve springs to raise the rev limit and the 128 cubic inch big bore kit.

I sent an email inquiring about what they offered to both companies and have heard nothing from either.

Today’s trip went well. 65 miles at a variety of speeds from city driving to a solid 45 minutes of freeway with rpm ranges 3-5K and it performed flawlessly.

And the big reason I got into the cam chest was to change a pinion seal. Totally successful, no leaking no weeping.

BTW, I have had views from two experienced tuners that if the Stage 1 upgrade is done at the factory, where they reflash the ECU, adding 569s will not necessitate getting a new unlocked unit as the post-reflash map can adapt satisfactorily. The optimal path is bespoke tuning, but do people believe that the Stage 1 reflashed standard ECU + cams will do for a lower cost Stage 2 upgrade?

If I lived in England all the MMC options would probably work fine but would you pull your ecu out and send it to the USA for a flash? Praying that the postal services, customs and god knows in between doesn’t muck with it. Like plug something into the ports to see what it is and screw up the flash, no, if it is unlocked then a local tuner can read what you have currently and at least transfer it to the unlocked ecu as a base map. Then working from there might be possible if the ecu from G56 (the only folks to respond to my email inquiry) gets scrambled in some way.

Since this has somewhat become the go-to tuning thread, S&S told me the stealth air cleaner kit has been discontinued. Is there any other solution out there for the Morgan?

I wonder if they are just being sold to MMC for the AR Racing kit? The trick part of that air cleaner is the stinger inside the Venturi , do any of the other cleaners from S&S have that stinger?

It still seems to be available here in the US. Just google it’s part number “170-0200”. I just bought one and fitted it, with the chrome cover. Looks great!

Where is it for sale still? The product page exists on S&S's site but there is no buy button. When I emailed them about ordering one they told me it was discontinued:
https://www.sscycle.com/products/stealth-air-cleaner-kit-without-cover-for-all-x-wedge-engines/

The only place I can find that lists it in stock is a site "vtwin.parts," I went ahead and ordered from there just in case these are disappearing, hopefully they actually have it in stock.

I got mine from vtwin.parts a month ago. They do now seem to be the only place left with stock.
