In my yoof I narrowly missed a collision with a day old car after a brake failure. A brake hose burst and I manage to manoeuvre past a postman on the footpath, a telegraph pole and cars stopped at a red light. The telegraph pole was left with a fetching stripe of British Racing Green and my care had to have some panel beating and a bit of paint. The new Holden escaped unscathed.

Unless the car has just pulled out from a side turning into a space that is insufficient...
Obviously not the case here! smile

Or if the person who pulls out into a small gap and overcooks it and spins it!

One person I know had a car pull out in front of him then realise he did not have the gap he thought he did and put his foot down. He spain it and ended up half up the pavement facing my friend bearing down on him braking hard. Not easy to explain on the insurance form when they hit. The good news was the airbags did their job.

It was a head on. He was stationary half on the road and half on the pavement on my side when I ran into him head on. It was his fault...thank god for dashcam's

That sounds painful! I need another dashcam for the 90, transferring one or other, either from Morgan or MINI when I occasionally use the LR is a pain. smile

In my Fire Fighting days in a Green Goddess during the Fireman's Strike of the 70s I was based in Birmingham and we were called to a car fire. By the time we got there at a full 25-30 mph the Rolls Royce that had just been collected from the factory in Coventry was completely engulfed in flames, the 6,000 gallons of foam we put on it finished it off exting

Not always.

I once had a "Hot Hatch" run into the back of me. I was about to turn into a narrow works entrance when a lorry appeared in the entrance and I had to anchor up.

Car hit me from behind. I wasn't insured. (company car cock up)

I had to go to court to get the other guy to pay and the Magistrate decided 50/50.

That's probably because you weren't insured, so decided you had to take some penalty.
