This maybe a little contentious but watching the new programme Vintage Voltage on Quest this evening, I find the whole bastardisation of converting a perfectly good classic vehicle to battery power is not in my book the way to go. The vehicle in question was VW Karmann Ghia and was costing the customer £25K just to convert to electric plus a few upgrades. I am not exactly a fan of battery vehicles but if it is to be done use a kit car and don’t mess up a very presentable vehicle.
For all that expense and extra weight it only has a 150 mile range??

I had no intention of watching any of the series!

I've recorded it, I'd like to see how it's done.

I'ver said before, the only reason I'd convert my MOG is if legislation made it very difficult to use her as a daily driver in the summer. However, I'd want Tesla performance (Warp Speed Quick) and range (300+miles). And I'd want it all for a tenner.....

I'm not a purist when it comes to classics. Much prefer an adapted vehicle that does 20,000 a year over a 'show queen' that barely sees the light of day. It's my car and I'll do what the frig I want with it, so have no issues with it not being 'original'.

It's for the "must have something no one else has and be eco friendly as well" club. The sort of people who have their iPhones gold plated so they are different. If you think about it that is still sort of less than a Model 3 costs.

If chesil did an e-356 so one of the remaining historic models did not get murdered then it would be even better - oh look they do!

And I thought I was the Luddite... (-:

I have no interest in electric vehicles other than on a pure transportation basis. Battery powered machines do not grab my attention the way noisy fire breathing and somewhat aromatic machinery ever did, however if they are the future and assist the continued existence of humans on the planet, so be it.

Me..? I am more than pleased to have been born where and when I was to have enjoyed the physical and mental interaction with old and sometimes very dirty machinery...The digital stuff was for me the first step back away from a more basic time.... But then look at the advantages that came with digitisation... I can remotely annoy so many by rambling on and on in type... blush

This is the same type of people who build large plastic windows in old timber frame houses ...
