There are some rather nice looking electric powered wooden river cruisers available.

A few years ago a chap in a Renault 4 stopped to comment about the 4/4 I was washing. He drove off too soon! He said “it’s electric”. He had converted his Renault. I’d have loved to see the details.
I once nearly got run over by the yellow electric Morgan at Thrill on the Hill. The “whine” wasn’t loud enough to warn me it was there. A pantomime moment...
“It’s behind you!”
Graham, when I was fly fishing a lot most reservoirs used mini electric outboard motors on the hire boats. Minn Cota make I think.. A 12V car battery supplied power.

I am not exactly a fan of battery vehicles but if it is to be done use a kit car and don’t mess up a very presentable vehicle.
For all that expense and extra weight it only has a 150 mile range??

Got to agree. Apart from anything else the Kharman Ghia was only ever a styling exercise awith no real merit as a car.

The whole point about classic cars is getting back to the days when cars were mechanical devices not moving computers and had nive V8 engines with soul. Or maybe a twin cam six at a stretch.

In a way it reminds me of the gaff rigged boats that are now being built and of which Princess Anne remarked " there is nothing naffer than a plastic gaffer".

It might make some sense if pollution controls are tightened further with ICE vehicles excluded from city zones etc or even banned.

California has a gross polluter law(not sure how it works) but think vehicles built pre 76 are excluded from the strict emission regs.

I know the fumes from my 85 Porsche were not good but most classics don’t do too many miles.

I think the Tesla is an amazing car and if I was still working would seriously consider one but the OP conversion to me makes about as much sense as my wife putting her electric Flat Iron an Open Range cooker to heat it up instead of plugging it in oops.

Just watched it - nah!

£30k and still shabby paint, no carpet, oily gearbox and drivetrain! That ARB looks dangerous too.

What on earth happens to the inertia of those batteries in a shunt!

Nah, Nah, Nada, Nah..

Rich - I can confirm the Tesla is absolutely an amazing “thing”. It’s basically an IPad with 4 wheels and the quickest thing I’ve ever had as a daily tin top. I’m not sure I’d want my Mog as an electric car though-the interaction and noise is far more fun with an ICE and no electronic driver aids....

HB - that's good to read as was Shooters similar hands on experience with the Tesla I know he is on his second now and the buy back and total running costs are ludicrously low once the initial payment was faced.

I had a good look around one at Ascot during the Red Bull Air Race weekend about 5 years ago and I liked them but a bit wide for our country lanes was my only concern.

Frankly until the other VM catch up with them in looks and range it's a one horse market imho, he is an odd ball but these are selling well and good for him.

The best of both worlds thumbs

I have been put off the Tesla by the slightly drab exterior and interior quality given the price point the X and Y came out at. With the 3 it becomes more viable. The performance and fresh take on controls has been really well done. Also the amount of storage space is quite impressive. The front and rear boots etc are really impressive.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.
