Hi all ,

I leave in south of France and have some hot (45-60°c) air coming from the steering of my aero série 1 ( not the heater matrix !) .

I think it's the heat from the exhaust manifold but it seems all oem thermal screen are in place .

Does anyone as the same issue and how it could be solved ?

It will be the hole around the column where it goes through the bulkhead

Hello, don't recall having this issue on my S1 Aero 8. Where are you in the south of France? I live halfway between Montauban and Auch and if you're not too far away I'm quite happy to have a look for you and if necessary we can put it on the four poster. I don't have anywhere near the knowledge or expertise of Simon, but did all my own maintenance and repairs for 8 years and 40,000km so learnt my way around the car a bit.

On the S1 the heat soak did seem a little more obvious when the car was warm. The transmission tunnel and other elements around the cabin did seem to get warmer than later cars. This might also be felt and making you more aware of it.

I had this'heat' issue on my S1 where the tip of the handbrake became also too hot to touch on a long journey. I was simply advised by the supplying garage that 'they all do that sir....'. To be frank, I think that is the case, the engine bay gets very hot

I don't find the time to investigate more because Some other cars were needing more attention but will let you know asap.


I also do all by myself on my cars for a long time then the goal is to sort it if not usual !

Like some TVR you can feel the heat of exhaust and gearbox but in that case there is an higher flow coming from the steering .

"Phillipo" , why not meeting you ( we are not too far, I.m located 50km west of Toulouse ) and compared our cars for any thermal screen different design or miss?

The car is RHD, just in case .

Air con directed on the footsie's is the only way forward Fred.

You can get heat shielding material to apply to the panels to reduce this, it also lowers the cabin sound level (ha ha) a little.
I would recommend going down the ventilation route to reduce the heat build up in the engine bay first.
