had this problem with a series of small triumphs, Spits, heralds and Vitesses. Always used the insulation tape route, quick easy and it works, maybe not the thing in a nearly new car but saves going backwards and forwards in a forlorn hope that the factory will sort it in any other way.

Is it a factory issue though? The wheel is an after market accessory so surely Moto-Lita should sort the problem.

Well, strictly it's a supplying dealer issue I guess. I was just trying to short-cut the process, as I thought Moto-Lita were bound to know the answer, and perhaps supply a fatter "O" ring or something. To be fair, they did eventually say "Send it back to us and we'll have a look". But I pointed out that I needed something to steer with

Anyway, Berrybrook are ordering a new horn push, so I guess it'll get sorted in the fullness of time.

I can't understand this. Mine is ridiculously tight and will date from 06/07 I think. Only my wallet is harder to dislodge, especially in the vicinity of a bar................

I had this happen on my 2010 roadster - Motalita wheel and polished steel boss/horn. At abt 7 months old whilst navigating pot holes on the Hogs Back at 60mph the whole horn assembly landed in my lap and if I put it back in it was so loose it fell out on any bump or on acceleration. My dealer was great and simply replaced the boss with a new one and we had a laugh about it. So far so good and the new one seems to be secure. The dealer too was amazed as usually these have been considerd a very tight fit - perhaps something has been changed with the securing rubber o ring or boss dimensions?

The boss is probably spun up in a lathe by hand by some brown coated elderly gent at Moto-lita and he has his off days

Be grateful it's loose. Mine (alloy horn push) is so tight it's nearly impossible to remove. At least with a loose one you can line the boss with one layer (or more, or even just a couple of short strips, trial and error) of PVC insulating tape, that will reduce the internal diameter and enable the o-ring on the horn push to grip.

My 2009 plus4 had this problem too - I thought it was just our suspension testing roads!!! A blob of silicone sorted it.

And I always thought that Motolita was a quality product. Mind you the wheels I've had from them always had the cheap plastic insert!
