If Dacia can make a 10k car with non squeal brakes surely MMC can do that on a 75k car. But Dacia will have spent 10x what Morgan can on the brake system And probably 20x.... They have the luxury of numbers....

Yes so shouldn't Mr Morgan buy a proven system like on the trads instead of a supplier nobody has heard of.

Indeed, it's bloody lush. It's definitely in the "Classy GT" category rather than "Traditional Sports Car", isn't it? Not that that's a bad thing at all, just different to the old trads.

Given that it would not be unheard-of for someone a long way from a dealer to need to replace the pads I would have thought it sensible to use brake callipers, and even disks, that were readily available for some mass market car. One could get pretty pissed of if stuck somewhere for days waiting for the delivery of a set of brake pads.

A firm called Liberty. Dan at KH tells me the design is unique to MMC. They (KH) for instance can't find a singly aftermarket pad that fits.

I don't mean to offend anyone, but this is preprogrammed trouble. Any standard brake system would have done it, or is there a deeper reason to install such a „unique“ brake system?

No idea & Dan didn't know either. I understood the dealers were not happy about this annoying fault. On their website they bought Caparo, Is that the brake company? Liberty history2015 August - Liberty Steel Newport (formerly MIR Steel) recommenced production after significant restructuring. November - Liberty purchased the second largest privately owned engineering business in the UK - Caparo Industries Plc. That is assuming I got the right company.

I don't see how it makes sense to use unique calipers. The cost of tooling for a start. Surely they fit something else?
