A week ago today I took delivery of a New M3W to join my Plus 4, Its has already become my favourite car !. I recently noticed a teaspoon of oil on the garage floor, the oil appeared to be thick gear oil so I guessed it was coming from the Bevel box area. Every time I parked the car left its scent mark. I messaged the supplying Morgan dealership for advice, the sales man responded immediately and passed it to the workshop for response, they took 36 hours to respond by email and said they would look at the leak on the first service. I'm not an expert but my thoughts were and bearing in mind the car has now done 170 miles by 1000 miles they probably wouldn't be much oil left in the BB. Cutting to the chase I looked on the search box on TM and saw a cut and and paste post from Garage 56 who said if the BB leaks check the orange breather. As I unscrewed the breather a escape of pressure build up could be heard and on inspection the breather was blocked solid. So now unblocked and the oil cleaned form the underside I gave the car a good run out, parked on the drive and so far no further leaks. Normally I would have taken the car straight back to the dealers but I live on the Isle of Wight and the dealer is almost 70 miles away, I guess my thoughts ran to disappointment at the dealers lack of response and care which I wasn't used too as my Plus 4 came from a dealership where I received personal first class service. The car however is amazing and I find any excuse I can to take it out for a drive, I totally understand your passion. Dave Crook.

Dave
As you have found some dealers are better than others at customer service.
Remote diagnosis can be a challenge, but an oil leak is sufficiently serious for them to have taken it seriously I would have thought.

Interesting story Dave if unusual on such a new car and an excellent start to fault finding. Can I ask what the breather was blocked with?

Richard, it appeared to be plastic swarf from manufacturing, it was totally blocked and fortunately I had a high pressure airline to blow it through. My thoughts are this may not be a one off and other cars may be affected, one thing has proved to me is that this site is invaluable to us owners especially those that live a considerable distance from a dealership.

Dave As you have found some dealers are better than others at customer service. I think it's fair to say that there is infinitely more combined knowledge on this forum than is available from the majority of dealers. That's what makes TM so great!

I have to agree with that as well, considering how badly the dealer prep was done on mine.
ah, to have a dealer only 70 miles away!

I could not agree more. A dealer network that was realistic to the scale of the USA and not a Country as small as England sure would be nice. My nearest Dealer is long 22 hour drive at 70mph; maybe it might make it home in Limp Mode?😂😂. This car will never see a dealer .

I am quite new to 3W ownership, is this the breather located under the rear clam storage? Always worth knowing. I feel very fortunate that I have a dealer nearby.. about 50 metres away in fact!

The orange breather is shown here, I have small hands and arms and can access it by removing the cover in the boot, otherwise its seats out and then the aluminum back panel to gain access, as shown in the picture. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2019/11/10/BBvent.jpg)
