So I insisted at the garage if they could get me a quick release for my spare steering wheel ... and I finally got an official response from MMC … pale

As we say in Spain "grab that curves come!": If you want a quick release, you must buy it along with the steering column. It is not sold loose but as a "set". And for the stupidity of 1300 €. scared

Yes it's not a typo: ONE THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED EUROS. shades

Are they nuts? redcard

Hang onto your Morgan’s for they soon will be. Thing of the past. When the buyout happened last year it was starting of the nailing down of the coffin lid for MMC.

Your Morgan might be a rattling bag of bolts but it will be worth more because of its rarity as it fades away. A customer service department and a real network of dealerships is essential, and Morgan’s in the western USA are very few and very long distances apart.

Yes Nestor, you're a lucky one with LifeLine QR! Unfortunately the new vehicles come with the Travens one, and it's not the same coupling with the steering column as the LifeLine. They're not compatible,

If anyone has or knows where to find a spare of the Travens QR, I would love to make a deal!

Good day Javier,

Many thanks for all your great posts and the web journals you do - I've read them all!

I am wondering if you ever got to the bottom of getting another QR for your car and if so how you have managed this.

I took the plunge and ordered a factory Brooklands wheel, from aftersales, and my retailer delivered my new M3W with this wheel but get this - it had the QR from the factory wheel bolted to it! MMC only sent the wheel and the hub but no QR. `The website shows it comes with one and like you, I want the ability to decide which wheel I will use. So this wheel is going back and I truly hope MMC sort this out.

With MMC being so reluctant to sell a QR, I wonder how they manage possible warranty issues. I find on mine, which the car only has 200 miles, the QR has movement between the two main parts. Imagine sitting in the car, wheel attached securely and now grab the wheel and gentled rock it. I can see and feel movement between the two parts and gives the sense that the QR is starting to come apart from itself. As it's the connection to the steering, this has me worried. Does yours have movement? While I appreciate the QR has two major parts that slide into each other, I would have assumed there won't be much play as I'm finding.

Hope you don't mind the questions smile

Thank you,

P

Sorry I gave you the wrong information Perry. Other steering wheels from MMC have been supplied with a new QR attached, I have a spare Lifeline one myself. I assume the Traven item is cheaper than the Lifeline, that must be why they use it as it isn't an improvement. You would think they would be keen to sell them at a bigger profit to the public.

Hello P! There is no movement at all between the parts of my Traven QR. It's solid rock. I always triple check everything is properly fixed when I put it, rocking it quite solidly, and it never moves.

MMC is still blocking the sale of any loose QR. You need to buy it with the steering column as a set and it's ridiculously expensive if you're planning to use just the QR banghead

If I manage to get loose QR I will immediately warn all Talk Morgan colleagues. cheers

Have you tried Krazy Horse?
They are great with the Three Wheelers, worth giving them a call perhaps.
