Hello all,

Does anyone have a picture of the original mounting blocks for bucket seats for a plus 4 or 4/4 of mid to late 60’s vintage?

My car left the factory with bucket seats and when I bought it had an old bench. I assume the conversion was made years ago.

I have found an old pair of seats and they’re on the way. I can build some mounting blocks but I’d love to see a pic of what they’re supposed to look like.

Thanks,

Nelson

Are the mounts for the tubular framed bucket seats or the round backed Super Sports type which I understand was offered as an optional extra the Plus 4 and 4/4's

I didn’t know Holden sold those runners and seats. Looks like great stuff.

But is still missing a piece - there has to be something that goes between the runners (or the floor boards) and the bottom of the bucket seat. Some form of squab mount.

With the bench seat it’s a small plywood board with a hight front and low back.

My impression was that instead of that, for buckets the factory simply used appropriately sized blocks, high in front, low in back, and tops beveled to match desired seat slope.

Hoping someone out there has done either a tear-down or new install that may have pics.

The moveable runners are cool, could allow adjustment but I probably will just fit them for me and call it a day.

I have the seats - the great folks at Morgan Spares, my local dealer when I lived in NY, had an old pair for sale.

In the absence of a pic of the real thing, my plan is to fashion two wooden blocks to mount the seats to. A higher block in the front and lower one in the back. The tops of both will be beveled to match the slope made by the height difference.

But am still hoping someone has a pic of an authentic set of mounts so that I can make mine look similar. I strive for as much originality as makes sense. My car is a wonderful driver, and excepting the paint, spin on oil filter, radiator overflow bottle, dual master cylinder, and a solid state regulator hidden inside the Lucas case, is pretty close to how it was made.

You’re pretty much spot on with how MMC mounted them
Use really big spreader washers so the seats don’t rip loose in an accident

Roger that! I will probably wait for the install until after I finish my kingpin job. Just lining up stuff for the rest of the summer!
