Hi All

This is my first conversation on TalkMorgan but I felt I must comment regarding the Aero 8 Series 3 WA57 DXB which I owned for 9 years and sold via Allon White 4 years ago to a customer in Germany. At the auction estimated price plus commission still looks a good buy. I was thinking about making an offer myself ! The Aero was in first class condition when I sold it with about 20000 miles on the clock, The only work I had done was the bearings replaced in the Diff. by Techniques. Hope this helps those interested.

10% buyer at historics, and VAT on commission, so really 12%, another 1% for online bidding. 53k all fees including. another 130 for transport back to storage if car not collected today

Ludo, thanks for those figures I've never taken part in an auction but those need factoring for sure before you stick your hand up in haste.

I registered and phone bid on it up to two bids before the end. Seemed a lovely spec series 3. Just with the commission and VAT pushed it above what I budgeted. Well done and congratulations to whoever won it.

Auction site says price achieved was £52,640, not sure if that is pre fees as seems unusual they would add them.
As expected estimate was way off, a category write off would be low 30s for a tatty Series 1.

it’s becoming the norm for auction house to show the total cost including all fees once the sale is final

And for sure you don’t want to forget about the fees when bidding. These fees are why a site like BAT has been able to carve a niche for themselves and I think they will keep on expending. With a 5% fee capped at 5000$, they represent a significant saving vs a typical auction house.
