Bob, I am so very sad at your news. Nothing can be said to aleviate the pain you must be going through at the moment but you know that all our thoughts are with you and Jess at this time. Give Jess all our collective love.

Just picking up on a comment in Mark (MDS) Porsche thread - do as much as you can in the time available, but don't overdo it.
Sue and I had managed a weekend away (part of it a Christmas gift from her daughter) just a couple of weeks before she took a sudden downturn. She was back in hospital for a few weeks, then home for palliative care. There was no chance to fulfil other trips that we both wanted to do. We thought there was still plenty of time...
It's never easy.

A good friend of mine just lost his wife to cancer. Retired a few years and seemed fine then at age 63 collapsed one day and went into a fit, treatment and operations didn't help and the medications was giving her blood clots in her lungs, probably the best time was spent during the last month in a hospice that really looked after her well. He asked me to tell a few friends on common and one said something that we all agreed with. Why is life so unfair and the nicest people have the worst luck. This thread sadly is a reminder how true that is.

Bob, I’ve only just picked up your news as I don't come on here very much these days. So sorry to hear of your news. It must be devastating for you both when Jess has already gone through so much.

I lost my wife to cancer in 2006. She was diagnosed with it in 1995. We both retired a year later to enjoy time together as she was told it was an aggressive form and they couldn’t say how long she had. We had spent a lot of time apart over the years due to her work so the time together was a bonus. Whilst the doctors wouldn’t say how long she had, several times they intimated that it wasn’t long. So we sort of lurched from one low point to another. My wife, far braver than me just took it on the chin and said what will be will be. I wished I could have had her fortitude. Strange that it may sound, once we knew that there really wasn’t much hope, I think we probably had the best times of our marriage in that it brought us very close. And I think it’s that memory more than any other that sticks with me still.

Life isn’t fair, it sucks at times and I ceased to believe in God and religion a long time ago. Make the very most of your time together.

Just reading back through that I don’t think I’ve really expressed what I meant to say, I’m not that good with putting down thoughts....but I feel for you both.

You both have said the right things. Thank you for your thoughts, they are very comforting.
Jays - If it was me who had had her luck, I think I would be on the bottle with some pills by now.

Bob, I can’t add to what others have expressed. Losing someone is so tough.
Life does seem unfair. I left religion behind years ago for that reason amongst others.
Make the most of your time together.
Don’t be afraid to talk about your life together both now and in the future.

Thank you Sospan. I talk to the neighbours who have gathered outside someone's house every Saturday evening teatime since this outbreak occurred.
