At least there is no white stuff forecast for down here. I could always trundle up with the 90 Keith, but I suspect the snow would be long gone before I arrived grin2

Graham ... was a bit earlier in the year .... we've had an amazingly dry and fine spring and early summer up in this corner ... but this one day was an anomaly .... and the forecasters got it spot on.

If you ever are trundling up this way get in touch ... would be good to meet up.

Oh, yes!

As my wife and me collect the brandnew Morgan from BHM in late November we 're allways in fear about rain, snow, ice and salted roads.

After about 1000 miles in Britain we agree: let's make a brake in the area near Aachen. It turns dark, it rains, it doesn't rain, it rains... Near Aachen my wife had a look at me and says: we've got a run - straight on, no brake, bring her home.

Done.

As someone told me: we don't fear wind, snow and rain, and also drive a car from Britain... ;-)

No, its cant be trusted in the sense you interpret is. The cell size for the weather models is, I believe 12km square so the best forecast you can get is a prediction for that area. Within that area there are local effects which can generate cloud or rain or wind but in any case the forecast for the cell itself is a probability one rather than certainty. And since both you ans us are on the join between two air masses with the jetstream passing nearby, the probabilities that are in any forcast arent high.

Power hood, yes. Much of the trip, via Coalville (wet up there) is m/way or busy dual carriageway, so hood left up, until I gave up on the M42 and took the A45 exit running down through Balsall Common to the A46 past Stratford/Evesham.

No cover - either hood down or hood up!

As for weather forecasts, I'm sure I have related this before, but several years ago a group of us had a tour of the Met Office just outside Exeter. At the time they were installing new mainframe supercomputers in the basement (Cray?). Since they went online a few months later the accuracy of the forecasts seem to have deteriorated smile
