Just recently I’ve been missing the sound system I had installed in my last Morgan. It had an active subwoofer hidden behind a false panel in the passenger footwell and some good quality Alpine 4 inch speakers so I’ve decided to replicate that set up in my current Morgan

First stage was to replace the 4 inch speakers with some higher quality ones

I did a bit of research and went for Focal

Two reasons- terrific reviews and they have an angled directional tweeter which I could angle up towards my ears from the footwell

Installed them tonight and boy are they great!

Big improvement on sound

Hopefully if the weather lets me this weekend, I’ll install the sub.

Smart installation Stewart. Presumably no issues with magnet depth as they appear well proud of the carpet surface. Will you be fitting the grills though which I understand are supplied with PC100's as they look a little vulnerable at present?

FWIW I have already upgraded to cheaper Focal Auditor RCX-100 speakers - an improvement in bass but less efficient than cheapo OE Radiomobile. Might be tempted with yours if the improvement is that great, and like the concept of directional tweeters.

Yes I put the grills on after I took the photos and went out for a drive

No issue on depth - I think they are 55mm deep behind but with the thick carpet, there was a good few mm to spare

I'm happy to be guided by Stewart's HiFi know how. The truth is, I have music in both Morgans and in eleven years with my Roadster have never once used it.

But I quite fancy upgrading as part of lockdown, so I await installment 2 about the, errrr, submersible dog simulator.

Install a srereo with remote control. I always wondered why you needed a remote in a car, obviously for a Morgan installation

I was going to go for the Focal ES 100 K Components for my Roadster before selling it, Tweeters would have been fitted in the Dash, alas I never got around to it, my system in my lounge uses JM Lab (focal) speakers, Always been impressed by the Focal kit.

Hi Stewart

I have the Focal Auditor RCX-100 speakers fitted but would be interested in listening to your sub and fitting one.

Post some photos of the sub if you can

I also wanted to get the Focal RCX100 last year due to Richards recommendation but it was not available in Germany. Then I purchased some JBL GTO429 4-Inch speakers, a friend brought them from the US when he visited us, and I am very happy with them. This new Focal PC100 look very promising for someone who is in the market.
