Astounding facts and figures for the albeit late 1930's. I found the modern computer derived airflow data on the Mercedes T80 3000hp aero engined record breaker, proving the downthrust would have moved so far back at speed as to lift the nose, very sobering.

Enjoyed that one, thanks Graham.
Learned a bit about how the rest of Europe could see the war clouds gathering too, hadn’t realised Luftwaffe was in direct breach of the Treaty of Versailles and was pretty much two fingers up to the rest of the world..I’d always assumed the signs from Germany were much more nuanced than that!

Watched on catch up & thoroughly enjoyed it. I too found the aerodynamic modelling fascinating especially that the T80 has a lower drag than a modern F1 car.

It was very well made. I watched it over breakfast and enjoyed it.

Great programme, with extraordinary engineering skills. The bravery of those drivers, is almost unimaginable. We particularly loved the film footage from Montlhéry, having been allowed to drive the same circuit, during the Revival; (albeit somewhat slower and behind a pace car).

Great programme with lots of information that I was not aware of. Mentioning Montlhery, I rode a Velocette Venom around the banked circuit about 20 years ago and that was an experience to remember.

Excellent program. German engineering, however misused and at what cost, was way ahead of most of the world. Automotive, avation, aerospace, and chemical.
