Greetings all,

I live in Twickenham will be searching for either a Morgan later this year once my 3.8 (Jaguar) Kougar sports has been sold. My wife is not happy about the Kougar any more as it has no doors, no hood and only a Perspex screen and we are both of a certain age now........ It will be a pity to see the Kougar go but needs must......hence the relative luxury that a Morgan will have!
I’ve not had a Morgan before and my initial research has led me to believe that either a Plus 8 or V6 Roadster will suit me best but am open to other suggestions. I’d certainly appreciate any advice concerning the various merits of a V6 Roadster over a Plus 8 or v.v. and I’m thinking of a 2005 or earlier car due to road tax costs.
Also, if the there are any nearby Morganeers(?) with either of these types I’d be very keen to meet up for a chat
Thanks, Nick

Welcome to TM Nick. Do post a photo or two of the Kougar - we like all sorts of cars here. Good luck in your Morgan search - the right car will find you! smile
From your email I guess you may also be an owner or have owned a 911?

Hello Nick

Have sent you a pm. Happy to chat and share my views about different Morgans. Started with a +8, then had an S1 Aero 8, then a Kent engined 4/4 4 seater, and shortly due to take delivery of a rebuilt +8 inj 1985 modified (Harpers) to 4 seater. Also note you have a Grinnall so we clearly share some likes; I have a Skunk Malone nearing completion in my garage.

Cheers

Philip

Welcome to TM. I think the first thing I would suggest to you would be to visit Melvyn Rutter who is based near Bishop Storlford. Post code CM22 7RA. Check out his website
www.melvyn-rutter.co.uk

I have no connection with them.

Good luck on your search. The right car is out there. If you decide to buy private - ask your questions here, reference the areas to check.

Regards

Welcome Nick, hope you and perhaps more importantly your good lady find a Morgan to suit your requirements, lots of different engine configurations to choose from. I am at the other end of the scale in that my old Morgan is feeling a bit raw these days in the cooler weather here abouts, and a possible return to Porsche ownership is attracting me just a bit...But I have been contemplating that option for quite a while, I suspect I may just be too fond of the Mog to let it go...Hmm..?

Welcome to TM. Good luck in your quest.

It is worth driving several cars including a four cylinder car to make sure of your choice. As others have said, the right car will choose you in the end.

. My choice would be a v8 I have had two of different vintage ones and they are the cream of the trad world.( Just my opinion).

The trad Plus 8 can be whatever you want -a long legged cruiser for touring without much need for gear changing or a real animal -all with that wonderful soundtrack!
