And there are no plastics that can do the job ?

Sounds like an excuse to me.

Yes it sounds a bit weak to me, Velcro on the leading edge would sort it..

Seems that a storm cover becomes essential for the new cars

I work in automotive from the factory side of things and as I tried pointed out a few days ago, there are now many rules that MMC have to adhere to in order to get this past certification. Having a plastic stud to hold the tonneau wouldn't work as it would snap very easily so I can fully understand why they decided to not go down this route.

Now, this isn't to say that someone can't do this aftermarket but as it's been touched on, MMC would be in their right to void warranty work if anything done outside of the confines of the design of the car affect an area where there is now an issue being called out. I've seen this 100's of times and sadly, it is what it is. Holes would also need to be drilled into the door to get the snaps in place - and should any corrosion happen in that area, well, I bought MMC would honour it as they were not the ones who put holes in after.

I've tried the new top and it's very easy to get up and latched in in quick order and I was able to get it in place without being shown first.

Fully appreciate the desire to have one but I highly doubt MMC will be losing any sales over the lack of one. It is what is it.

Jesus do those Eurocrats have nothing better to do than regulate every little thing to death. Are you sure this is right?

Yep, that's why the side screen sliders are now circular & you can't have trad door handles

JohnV6, I suspect we as ever have followed on behind our American Cousins to become an overly litigious society with ever increasing expectations if ever something unfortunate might occur../ For the life of me I can not believe how fortunate are we to still be able to drive around in our Morgans, though for how much longer...Hmm..?

So how are they going to manage with the M3W - no cover whatsoever for the cockpit ?

Really interested to see how they sell with no cover at all or maybe there is an easy up in the pipeline rofl

Presume this metal stud issue applies to new generation cars though Perry and is not retrospective to earlier models still in production (e.g. the M3W)?
