The new owner of my previous M3W got stopped by 👮♀️ after two seasons of happy driving. They had a focus on noisy motorbikes and the stage one kit of the M3W got their attention. At a test the M3W was 12 db over the top / the approved level. (15 db would have resulted in an immediate loss of road approval)
Any suggestions for a simple fix to get the noise down? Putting the famous pot cleaning steel sponge into both end-tubes was my first proposal.

I have an exhaust insert I carry in my toolkit for the possibility the racer might fail the noise check .... tames the noise well without giving up noticeable power.

Ps ... having reviewed this post I see to my horror that, in spite of using a stainless cap screw to secure the baffle, I have failed to use the corresponding stainless nyloc ..... I can only apologise for both letting myself down so publicly and for any trauma and upset I may have caused members by falling so greivously below Forum standards.
I use those inserts on my chop - short, straight through pipes wiith no silencer. Takes the edge off the noise and stops me setting off the car alarms.....
Previously I tried some exhaust packing material but found it restricted the power considerably.

So for your penance, go and stand in the middle of your garden and polish your nuts
Interesting Thread and something that the 3 Wheeler section of the Forum might derive some benefit. I know my AR Stage 1 mufflers are pretty loud if I get to foot heavy.
2019 M3W Sold and is now in Las Vegas enjoying the showgirls :-)
