Blue twist wrap bags of salt. What flavours do you have? Potato. You can still get them Bob, but they’re Walkers now I think. Frustratingly, the blue bag is always at the bottom of the bag, you’ve to eat half of them to get to it.

You are bringing back the forecourt memories now Ewan with those flattish cone shaped containers with the plunger on the top, you're not as young as I thought. I may be getting older, but I’ve yet to grow up! I’m sure everyone will remember MW radio in the car and the fuzzy racket when you drove under high voltage power lines.

Yes Radio Luxembourg on 208 "Radio lucky Luxebourg" lucky if you could hear it for the fading and of course good old Horace from Keynsham.. Caroline and Radio London followed on with the pirate ships, they were good old days but the quality was My first car radio came from BB Adams and LW/MW and dire really but I nailed a 10Watt amp on it which was even more dire really.. Oh the irony I have a Becker Mexico with their Silverstone CD unit tied up to a Bosch 100W Bass booster and a couple of quality JBL speakers in the Morgan and never switch it on unless I'm in the garage tinkering or waiting for the good lady, it does sound good but it's not the right noise for me with a V8 and Librands dual Sports exhaust inhouse .. The previous custodian lived in London village and was in the music industry and kept the car "inside" his Mews property for which I thank him daily...

I used to go to Saturday morning cinemas as a youngster.... the manager (in his best suit) would come onto the stage in front of the screen to tell us all about the film - which would be shown after a cowboy black and white.
This cinema in Devon no longer exists - knocked down and just housing.
Pretty much the last film it showed was Carrie - the horror film - which I saw there in the mid 70's.

I don't remember the local cinema, would have been around 10 miles from home. I remember it as a second hand shop, now a restaurant/nightclub.
Remember the salt n shake though, and the butcher, bakers vans weekly. Mum used to exchange our excess hens eggs for meat. No salmonella in them days.

My great grandfather's family evidently ran a Cinema business in rural Essex in the 30s. My great grandmother played the piano, my grandmother sold tickets and then sold snacks in the interval. The men operated the projector and the traction engine outside that provided it's power! I too remember the rag and bone man , his horse and his call. How about door to door salesmen selling brushes and brooms and the onion seller on his bike with strings of onions and a beret? We had a modern house, but I remember the coke deliveries and we had a gas tap for a gas powered fridge.

The Rag and Bone one is a clear memory to me as is the Kleneze man with his suitcase of polishes and brushes etc. I can't say I ever saw an onion seller or a gas powered fridge though.
