I watched the Fiat 500 episode yesterday in a state of horror.
The engine was a flyer and worth a small fortune, no safety glasses, Welding without a mask!!!, working under the car with only a jack supporting it, inability to use a hole saw and the utter mess they made of that front badge!!! Three point seatbelts with the top mount way too low and the blacksmith approach to fitting the motor adapter does a disservice to black smithery!

Latest conversion was Defender with air suspension. There was more engineering & no filmed butchery on this one. They used a Tesla motor & batteries retaining four wheel drive. Do Telsa sell new motors & batteries or are they from a donor car?

They didn't mention how much the conversion for the Discovery was (unless I nodded off during that bit ), I bet it was a lot more than the 9 year old car was worth

I sure the motor and batteries alone was about £20K and the cost of conversion was possibly another 15 to 20K. Is it worth it?I am at a loss regarding the whole concept of these conversions. There seemed a lot of rust on the chassis. The sound as it travelled off road reminded me of a RC model car. The Irish seem to like them as this is the second vehicle from the Republic.

The tax implications of cars are pretty big in Ireland and I believe they have good terms for Electric cars which offsets some of the price maybe?
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

If you watched Vintage Voltage you will catch glimpses of a Gordon Keeble in the background. Apparently this is a customer’s car waiting to be converted to electric.........Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Considering that there were only 99 of these superb classics built with a Chevy engine and now it’s going to be Frankenstein’d.
Each to their own but where is the logic? The owner will have to spend £30-40K converting it which will result in the value of the car possibly being halved?
It’s like defacing the Mona Lisa.

I must admit I quite enjoy it, maybe Morgan could spend 20k on a conversion by them and pocket another 6 million grant . As Dacia say you do the maths.
