I agree re the cars being different. I can see the future in the Plus Four/Six but was a little surprised that the Trad was stopped totally as it is a different car. Still space is limited and I would imagine the Aero's low volume and high setup costs made it a pain on the P&L.
I am glad they released it as a Trad shape first.

Maybe a simpler 4/4 might be released some day. I doubt it will be simple compared to the trad models though. Morgan need to start attracting younger buyers though who don’t tend to do the fettling many older owners do. Without them they have a limited future as most Morgan owners are late fifties and older and can’t be relied upon for more than another 15 to 20 years.

Morgan need to find a niche, like they did with the Aeros and M3W, because I doubt many Trad owners will trade up, not only because of the cost difference, but the total lack of fettling potential. That's a big issue for some. Agree that many on here have been brought up working on cars and fettling but perhaps the younger Morgan target market has had no need to fix cars and therefore lack the fettling skills or even the inclination to fettle. I think the Plus Four is a just as much a niche market as the trads if similar numbers are built. And in the age of the PCP the Plus Four is affordable to younger high income customers.

For me it is less the fettling but the old school driving style that makes Morgans so special. When the road holding becomes similar to a Porker or a BMW I see no point in driving a Morgan. Automatic gear box, ABS and computer added driving - that's mostly better and cheaper in cars of the big players.

That's a big issue for some. Not for me . I would be happy to forego the regular greasing and leave messy oil changes to the dealer. Given price of factory options though there remains as many after market customising possibilities as before (maybe more?), which is an important part of the experience for me. I think Hannes has a good point above. I just don't have the reactions and daring now to appreciate the full potential of modern performance car handling.

I have an idea to make everyone happy. On the new Plus Four cars they could offer a new option. The Trad owners fettle & bodge kit. It would consist of a set of fake grease nipples, some wrongly handed roof fittings, a set of loose nuts and bolts that do not match that you could lay on the ground under the car in the garage and some light oil to coat your fingers with from time to time. As a further option you could have a downloadable (by cassette or CD) sound track of squeaks and rattles for the authentic making progress sound track. For the hardened Trad lovers you could fit a bouncy cushion under the seat to emulate the front suspension prior to fitment of the suplex? (okay off to hide now, done my bit for world peace for the day)

There would be plenty of fettling and cleaning required on its return.

Not me boss. I don't have a CX, I am sticking to my V8 based Aero toys. You can't beat the hoooligan side pipes.
