I do not bother wt the cover anymore, I just put the easy up hood on. Especially wt 2 people way quicker. I must say that mostly I drive wt the screens up. Being tall and sitting far back, this gives some level of comfort, I removed the wind deflectors, as they are of not much use, when you sit further away from the windscreen.

I prefer the tonneau as an option. I have a Librands roll bar so it is modified to fit round the tubing. I use the headrests but keep the metal rod lubricated with ordinary car polish. It makes them easier to remove. Light rain...drive on. If going out and there is heavier rain forecastI fit the hood on the rear and fold it to cover the shelf area before going, like a mini cover. It is then easy to fit to the screen quickly as it is like an easy up hood. I toyed with having “pouches” put in the tonneau cover to fit over the headrests but the rollbar would make that difficult. I also took off the wind deflectors. I carry the short rain cover to put over the cockpit as a quick extra covering.

I did see a tonneau cover made with headrest pockets at MOG 15 in Harrogate which I thought was a great idea for slightly older models with the fat headrests ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2020/08/12/096F5886-C93C-4E12-8734-D97DBE09A785.jpg)

Is it illegal to drive without the head restraints? I've never found them much use and although I have an easy up hood i feel the care is more secure with a tonneau cover when parked.

When I install the tonneau on my 1995 4/4, I just fold the seat backs forward and the tonneau fits perfectly. I don't have sport seats with the fancy side bolsters, just the plain vertically pleated rectangular shaped seats. I have never removed the headrests.

Be careful, the tonneau police will be correcting you shortly

John I never thought of trying that I always take the headrests off but I’ll give it a try

The lubrication route is a Catch 22. The more lubricated, well on my car, encourages more blessed rattles! Likewise with the Librands door checks. Lubricate those and they won't stay open!

It's not illegal to remove them but if you have a crash and suffer severe neck damage your insurance company may not pay in full. They are for protection not to lean your head on.

And my '59 +4 doesn't have headrests, just the bench back. Lots of good advice here though.
