James
Your car looks stunning. I think the dash inset looks superb, although I can't do that as when the dog sits on the floor in mine his head goes there!
Like the clever visors too ... do the impede the roof erecting process?
Ian thanks Ian; lol at securing the 'dog head space'.... The visors are great with the hood down - particularly with the low Winter sun we get at this time of year. Also, if you angle them just right, they help deflect some of the airflow over your head wich stops a bit of buffeting. Erecting the hood just means folding them down to avoid the header bar and give access to the catches. Once the hood is up and secure, the visors sit flush against the wooden header rail. I did have to shave a bit of metal off the outer hinges and replace the chromed, dome head nuts with slimmer,s/s ones to give a bit more clearance; it's tight, but it works well James

James,
I think you told me at Malvern they were advertised as Mini items but I think there may be a few of us who would like to copy your idea (if you don't mind) Some more details and maybe a "how to do it" post would be much appreciated I think.....

What gear lever is that James ? It’s a J.B.W special ! Like the rest of the car I’ve seen it in the shiny metal at MOG17 and boy is that one special Aero Likewise, i had a good look at it at Mog 17 and was VERY impressed with the attention to detail and the overall level of care. The gear lever is almost the same as the one used on the Aero Plus 8 manual transmission, and looks good.

These visors were my starting point for my Trad visors. Search E-Bay on CLASSIC AND KIT CAR BLACK SUN VISORS UN-DRILLED KIT *NEW* These are now available undrilled. Originally they were sold for classic Mini, but were too narrow. So the first time I asked the seller if they could make me up a pair to fit the Trad. The second time I sourced the tinted perspex from elsewhere and just used these hinges. Holdens sell the hinges, but at £49.00 a pair. https://www.holden.co.uk/displayproduct.asp?pCode=040.068

- these are similar to the kit I got - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CLASSIC-AND-KIT-CAR-GREEN-SUN-VISORS-UN-DRILLED-KIT-NEW/162650783128? as Dave points out, the important thing is to get them un-drilled. You can then utilise the existing screws in the windscreen surround - so no drilling of holes needed This works out at approx. half the price of Holdens ;more I guess if you factor in the perspex panels.... Masking tape on the perspex and take it nice and slow when drilling so that you don't crack the perspex They also do the perspex in clear, smoked, blue and red - so no excuse for not matching the colour of your car..... James

It's a work of art - bold and different accoutrements, including the bonnet ornament - remember speaking to you at Malvern.
Artistic flair combined with engineering skill.
Seeing those massed, lovely Aeros at the three counties pushed me over the edge.

- thanks for the kind comments Chaps; much appreciated Gear knob is a 'one off' Malcolm. I wanted one similar to the new Aeros but couldn't source it anywhere.Peter (Jenks ) kindly supplied dimensions of his and I had one machined up with a few tweaks. Combined with the short shifter kit (thanks to NickCW for sourcing the parts ) it now feels great; really 'chunky' and operates very smoothly...... James Do you have a closer up picture of your gear knob It does look nice and chunky (oh er).

Hi James, I was wondering would these fittings on your sun visors would work on MK1 Aero with the updated pram type hood. Not sure the fittings would clear the windscreen clamps ? Bill

Hi James, I was wondering would these fittings on your sun visors would work on MK1 Aero with the updated pram type hood. Not sure the fittings would clear the windscreen clamps ? Bill - possibly not Bill I can vaguely picture the clamps I think you mean and am guessing they sit in the middle of where the visors would be when engaged? If that is so, then I can't think of a way (any) visors could be fitted - other than being able to pivot them to the side when raising /lowering the hood....? I'm happy to take a better picture of mine if that would help....... James
