Spent over an hour this afternoon on a five minute job trying to find a campsite in the lakes that could accommodate our motorhome and a tent with EHU for friends next Monday and Tuesday(not the weekend god forbid!)
And the weather is looking a bit dodgy.
If Joseph and Mary turned up at Penrith resplendent with new Halfords tent astride donkey they would be sent packing to the Pennines because Cumbria’s fully booked.
Finally managed to bag a couple of pitches in Dent in the western dales - not sure if it’s Cumbria or gods own but it’s the best I could manage - hoping for a young Babs in a bikini to make up for it.

Good luck I hope it's not too mad, midweek the Devon and Cornwall tourist boards declared the counties fully booked but didn't stipulate whether that was a limited as in Covid restrictions way or in general, it certainly has been pretty crazy down here. Have a good break away.

Yes it's a nice area to explore I spent some good weekends up there whilst working at Kidsdale for a while. John Scoulars place in the Isle of Whithorn was a fairly decent place to stay with fair food at the Steam Packet. I still have friends in the area.

Took a one hour drive on my usual circuit (round the Lizard) yesterday, dodging the thumder storms, and have never seen so much traffic. Some businesses down here must be doing very well.
I had a week down in Cornwall at the end of July and was suprised how quiet it was - much quieter than usual (I go every year). The streets in the towns were a little busier, but mainly due to restricted numbers allowed in the shops. St Ives and Padstow had a fraction of the numbers of previous years, and Boscastle car park was 3/4 empty (whereas you're usually lucky to find a space).
Going again next week, so will be interesting to see if it's changed.
Our village is absolutely crammed with holiday maker's never seen it so busy really good for trade however social distancing is out of the window and why feed the bloody seagulls....
