The larger card, like 128gb and a battery or two.

Download the GoPro and Quik apps as well
As Lightspeed said more than one card and battery is a good idea and the charger that can be used in a car auxiliary point.
They really are easy, once you have set them up simply turn them on, press start then stop when you are done.
Enjoy it

Another thing I am looking at is the possibility to plug the GoPro directly into the 12VDC outlet via a USB cigarette lighter adapter, which I already have from my previous camera.

I was reading that it might be possible on the newer GoPros to do it although waterproof is gone. A split battery/card door is something I ordered and you can plug the power/charging cord into it with the door closed. I am not sure if the battery needs to be removed or not to make it operate on 12VDC power.

The GoPro app is nice, especially if you want a cloud storage but have not heard of Quick, thanks for the tip Neptune.

This one came with a USB charger. However, it is only long enough if I put it on the dash. I was thinking of mounting it on the roll bars, or the luggage rack

I bought the Hero 7 I mounted it above the screen in my +8... Great vid quality but the sound of windrush drowned everything else out on the move. Bought a remote mic which required a block like interface, in size the block is a bit smaller than a matchbox. In order to accommodate the "matchbox" had to buy another mounting case into which the matchbox fitted. The remote mic is a pinky sized and omni directional type it cam with a small "sock" designed to cut down wind noise. The mic came with a about a 2 meter (6ft) cable, and allowed me to try it in a variety of positions, all of which were subjected to wind...!!!

Since then I have bought an extension lead for the mike to allow me to extend it close to the exhaust pipe end, but as yet I have not road tested it to see it if there is and improvement..

If you look in the vid section of the site you will find some vids with great sound that Mossy made, though I suspect his mike may be better than mine and with a larger sock/cat..

Good luck with your film making attempts... Enjoy.. thumbs

I have the same model: GoPro Hero 7 Black.

I mount it between the two windshields. If you have a large one-piece windshield you can still place it a little forward with the GoPro suction cup (very reliable. It won't move despite the vibrations). I our case, I still made a little lanyard to secure it to the "lift-the-dot" male pin between the windshields.

MANDATORY: a windslayer. It's very cheap. You can get a decent one for less than 10 USD in Amazon. And it makes a huge, really amazing, difference as it kills the wind noise I would say at 95%.

I have four (yes 4) batteries. And I will soon buy a larger memory card. Because the one I have has 64 Gb and, unless you download every night the videos to the PC, the day after you'll run out of memory.

We also bought the Smart Remote. It helps a lot so you don't have to reach the camera to start and stop your videos. Very convenient if you place it somewhere you don't have easy access to its buttons.

If you want to have a look, I have a post in our blog. Here is the link: https://www.speedymarmots.com/hangar-works-14-the-video-camera/

My GoPro works through the iPhone App which is very useful, I use a roll bar clamp to mount it on the hoops.
