But - if they are contemplating an Aero chassis with V8 and trad-style bodywork, that will surely need Type Approval? And I don't see a Trad body passing that without major rework, where it is likely to lose a lot of the trad styling...Cheers, My speculative prediction some months back, when I heard about the 60th Anniversary next year of the Le Mans 62, was that MMC may make a few limited edition 'Tok Styling' Trads on the Aero Chassis with the BMW V8 engine . How about a Mini Morgan version as well then? I see Richard Thorne is still selling that Trad Styled Aero 8 Prototype for £60k??? - It's worth giving it a Respray and fitting the Hard Top 'just for the occasion' !

I've heard that the roadster will get the Mustang V6 engine (300 hp) and there will be a new Plus 8 based on the Aero chassis with BMW engine and trad styling. music to many peoples ears I hope this is true

The tech spec on the Mustang sites quote 307bhp, and 30mpg. How do I get this past MrsW???????

don´t you worry, dear Dave! MMC surely will "downtune" the poweroutput to suit the traditional suspension & chassis and to take care of their customer´s health Much more interesting will be, if the save they´ll 379 Nm torque of the Ponycar-engine, won´t it?!

Funny thing is – this simplifies my thoughts about a Plus 8. A ten year old Plus 8 for £40k, or a new SuperRoadster for £50k. Really that’s no contest. With the torque from the Mustang engine, it will be massively better. I do wonder about wire wheels though………and their ability to take that much torque, For the first time in a while I can feel excitement……… I hope it’s not thwarted by some unexpected event.

I spoke with a dealer today who confirmed that the new engine will remain a Ford V6 but with more cc and torque. The price diference is estimated at about £1000 (but not confirmed). That seems a reasonable amount for what is expected to be a significant performance upgrade.

So it's a case of waiting for the official announcement. An extra grand is neither here nor there, but I'm concerned about the resiliance of wires with more power, the current traditional dash - which I don't like, but could be fixed at a price, and the excessive width. And most important is the ground clearance. Pictures of the Mustang engine show a deep sump, which is actually mentioned as a plus point - big capacity = longer service intervals for some obscure reason.
