I don`t like football either! I did once play cricket with the great Sonny Ramadin - it was on the beach at Blackpool and he asked if he could join in our family game - I`d be about 6 or 7 at the time. Eventually he ran my brother`s local in Delph - made a wonderful curry to soak up the beer.

Reminds me of an explanation of the game of cricket to our USA cousins:
You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that’s in the side that’s in the field goes out and when he’s out comes in and the next man goes in until he’s out. When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. When they are all out, the side that’s out comes in and the side that’s been in goes out and tries to get those coming in out. Sometimes there are men still in and not out. There are men called umpires who stay out all the time, and they decide when the men who are in are out. Depending on the weather and the light, the umpires can also send everybody in, no matter whether they’re in or out. When both sides have been in and all the men are out (including those who are not out), then the game is finished.
Finally! Now I understand! no, I don't. I'll have to look at YouTube.

I don't watch either.
I hated sport at school. Maybe if I hadn't been forced to do it I might like it more.
It's all too serious and competitive. I don't get it at all.

Scoring a goal in football happens on average 2.6 times per match, or once every 35 minutes. The most common half-time score is 0:0.
I'm always amused when someone who professes to enjoy football says that cricket is boring because nothing happens. They also spend half their time rolling around on the ground pretending injury because someone touched them. Over here I laugh at baseball, men wearing pajamas doing very little except spitting on the floor with the spectators spending more time eating hotdogs and drinking beer than watching the game. The most excited the spectators get is during the seventh innings stretch and my American colleagues say cricket is boring.

What a shame that our weather played as big a part in the test as did the actual game. After such a great final test with England firmly in the driving seat it was a bit of an anti climax to see it played out to a draw but still, a brilliant showing by England this summer. Now for the up comming T20 series !!!
Here for a good time not a long time!! Reg

True. But on the bright side, England won the series anyway, and Jimmy Anderson got past the milestone of 600 wickets.
