On staycation, after a few days in the lakes, it can also be quite difficult to get a meal or drink in tourist areas.
Staycation + some places still closed + distancing + 50% off = full/booked up.

Very similar down here on all counts, we went for a coastal run to Kingsbridge in 41 years we have never seen the roads or camp sites so packed with most of the eateries displaying chalkboards stating fully booked at 1400 today on our way out.

Blackpool Sands and Torcross looked like Garibaldi..

So far Cornwall has been very quiet. Down in Polperro this morning, then Fowey and Wadebridge. Carparks half empty, and towns very easy to walk round. Even quieter than the end of July....

Well my son and his girlfriend work in the leisure industry in the Newquay area and the place is jumping so I think you are lucky where you are.

As much as I used to love Newquay in the 70s and 80s I now avoid it as much as possible. Always rammed full of stag and hen parties!

Yes it's not a place they live in or frequent other than to earn a crust, they live off grid on their own little corner of Kernow and choose their surfing sites carefully based on their 17 years experience down there.
Enjoy your holiday.

Dent is a great place to visit. I took my 1st wife and my kids there in 1980. We drove through the village both ways with me driving and videoing with a hand held camera...there was no traffic around.
60 years ago I spent 2 weeks camping with the Sea Scouts on the shores of Loch Ken in Dumfries. Great time...I remember it thunderstormed one night, the loch rose 6 feet and washed away the scout masters tent and all our boats.

Went to the Eden Project today. Went early as on previous visits it's been rammed, but again, really empty. These photos were mid morning. Never seen it so quiet

Went to Mevagissey afterwards and again parked easily, no queues for food etc. Seems south coast Cornwall is the place to go to escape the crowds!

Glad you had a good visit we love going there, the lack of people and the normal riot of colour in the beds is missing though.
