That sounds like a great trip. I enjoyed our time driving through the black Forrest region last year and would love to return. Yes, the Schwarzwald is a nice area too. But wellknown and in my eyes overtouristiced. And much motorcycles in hurry. For me it‘s a little stressful. Have a try with the Sauerland. You would be surprised. René

That was a decent trip.
How many days?
I did similar tours, mostly using two weeks for the trip.
This year Corona has ruined my plans.

Thanks René, on the return trip we travelled from Saalfeld to Bad Oyenhausen and really enjoyed the area, I see on the map we were not far from region you suggest. Worth considering for a return trip I think.

Not as many miles as usual on this trip, I'll try harder next year. tmg, what type of roads did for choose on your trip, we took motorway only to speed our arrival to a destination of choice then scenic routes once there. I definitely took on too many miles in a two week holiday.
