I definitely drive it more slowly than the M3W as the soft ride takes some getting used to and it leans/rolls. The later models have slightly stiffer suspension. I just completed step 1 of my “totally sorted M3W” mission for this winter. I spent an afternoon and a morning in the company of Phil Bleazey in Lancaster while the Centa coupling with Phil’s improvements was fitted to my engine in place of the old HD unit. I can recommend doing this to anyone that hasn’t yet done it. I’m sure he won’t mind me saying that Phil is old school and a delight to be with while the work is done.

Fabian’s rear sprocket is waiting in my garage to be fitted after the engine’s back in and thankfully my BBox is already fixed without an NVH kit.

After that it’s a chat with Simon about sorting the fuel tank fixings and they will go back in with a new Walbro fuel pump.

I have to confess I’m quite enjoying it all and I know it’s worth the effort to keep the piece of art that is the M3W strutting it’s stuff!

In truth apart from the fuel tank brackets non of the other original items being replaced (above) has actually failed or given any trouble yet so I’m aiming to stay ahead of the curve.

I have had a look at the Pembleton web site which is nicely done. Great looking cars with some interesting details and really like the look of the T24.
However having just read through some of the posts on the Pembleton forum, to say that they are totally sorted and any safer than the M3W is clearly incorrect hide

To be fair to Pembleton, the forum is for fettlers of the old kit cars, where build standards are at the mercy of the owners. The new turnkey three and four wheelers are very well put together.

For sure the kit cars are another era and they only build a complete car today which is different in so many ways. I can only say that as a past owner of an M3W and a current owner Pembleton VSport (no 2), there is no contest in design, build and engineering. But I guess Pembleton have had much longer to perfect their car before starting production as a series. The M3W strikes me as having so may compromises to just get something on the road. Heavy engine, a mainstream car gear box, screaming bevel box, whining toothed pulley and a rear sprocket that lasts so few miles (at least mine did) not to mention the cracked chassis and an inability to close the footwell which most car manufacturers since 1910 have been able to do. If you start with the idea of a fun to drive lightweight three wheeler and a clean sheet you wouldn't design an M3W. The VSport is continually improved and I will get my new one in February and it has none of the myriad issues that Morgan owners resign themselves to for a few years before they bail out. Sad to say.

I ought to declare an interest. My T24 (the first one sold) will arrive at Easter. Because each one is custom made - I doubt that they will make more than six a year - ours will have a more powerful engine, stiffer suspension and more heavily geared steering. The 2CV gearbox, albeit sharpened up with rose joints etc, is no match for the M3W's MX5 shift, and although power:weight is superior to the Morgan's the torque cannot get close to a Stage 2 X Wedge. Having driven the lower-powered development vehicle, handling with near-50/50 weight distribution was excellent.

I will not go into the reason for getting one, but having had the opportunity to take a close look it was clear that they have tried to address many of the production value issues that have dogged the M3W. As Cubemark says, the two turnkey Pembletons leave its old kit cars some way behind.
