John sorry to hear about the accident, pleased you are OK. In the past found Headley and particularly Hiscox very helpful. My +8 was struck by a 4x4 in a car park last year whilst I was in a local restaurant having lunch. Car park holds at least 30 cars, there were just 3 parked and he clobbered the nearside wing turning round. Fortunately a couple in the garden saw the accident and the driver a sales manager for a national seed company who was with customers came in to the cafe to find me. All efficiently repaired by Techniques.

Sorry to hear about the accident John. I hope there are no long term physical injuries (was rear ended near Yarmouth 40 years ago and still have neck problems!). No matter how careful we are as drivers you can never anticipate what the other plonker is going to do. I hope you don't get too many withdrawal symptoms, and yes red wine does help although only temporarily!

Well Hedley bollocked Hiscoxs who seem to have started on it. I have legal cover so they are persuing the other parties insurers for a hire car (like for like).

I had my +4 written off last year. I didnt need a hire car as the +4 was not our main car. So was able to claim for Loss of use of vehicle which was a daily rate for the period whilst a vehicle is being repaired or to the date of the settlement cheque. But if you have a courtesy car / hire car you cant claim this.

I cant now remember now what the daily rate was though.

Bad luck that John ..... what a sickener! .... glad you're fine and hope the car fixes quickly ..... only good thing about the upcoming tech is that we can hope it will be " three bumps in five years and you're banished to a self-driving car" .... might make some of these 'drivers' pay a bit more attention!

Good Luck

What a pain in the neck. As others have said, at least nobody got hurt, and the other driver was insured, but it is a real bore nonetheless.

I had a similar incident when a moron in a Seat backed into me in my 4/4. The damage was also much more complex than met the eye, but it was all sorted out in the end. What looked at first glance like a bent front wing (he had the nerve to say it was nothing) ended up costing his insurer nearly ten grand.
