What’s the bobby with the original hood?
I believe there are cables in there somewhere and wonder if that’s why there’s a gap over passenger side window.
Also it falls short on the back of the door and water must pour in
It’s the original good with a glass window. I think you could upgrade them.
Is there a specialist that fits new jobbies and at what sort of cost?

Shaun at Allon White has done a few S1 hoods, I'm sure he can help.

I have the same issue with my hood. I contacted Allon Whyte about a new hood and asked if they could reuse the glass window but they said they had tried in the past but it never worked and always had to be replaced with plastic which I didn't want.
I also contacted a local trimmer who deals with vintage cars and he said the original hoods had always been tight and it was shrinkage over the years causing the gaps. He did say he could improve it without replacing the entire hood so I intend getting that done after all the other work is complete.

I’m going to talk to a trimmer then too as you’ve saved me from calling Allon Whites.
I want to keep my hot rod rear window.
Somehow the new hood need to be stronger around the top of the side window to create a seal.
I notice there is a cable in there somewhere

My trimmer found a perfect colour match for my 20 year old hood which I was amazed at. Said he would find a rubber extrusion to put in the channel between the window and hood and also said he could extend the flap over the side window like a trad hood.
Only issue would be he reckoned I'd have to lower the window slightly to get in and out so it didn't damage the hood over time.

Is there a specialist that fits new jobbies and at what sort of cost? Not sure who Kevin spoke to at AW but I wasn't told the glass wasn't an issue? If they won't do it I would go the factory, they should be able to do it no problem. However if the roof is in good condition you can sort the shrinkage, to be honest a lot of new hoods fitted very badly so its not always shrinkage causing the issues! Its quite common for them to be a little short at the rear of the NS/OS windows. So when you sit in the car by your shoulder you have a gap basically. Mine you could fit your fingers in, Shaun added some additional rubbers and tidied it up to make it seal much better and you can barely tell now. It will however always leak a bit, its the nature of the design unfortunately! The later pram style roofs have different seals that do work better, but they have an inherent fault when folded down that the seals get damaged over a year or two and then need replacing.

I think so, if he can make my roof fit I see no reason why he can't keep the old window and make a new one.

I was told that the way the glass window was bonded into the old hood was the issue and a transplant had never been successful but happy to be corrected if they say they can now use them successfully.
