@M3W55

Italy is always a great country for road trips.

Picture 4: Lucca and the Torre Guinigi with the trees on top - a gorgeous city.
3rd picture: Lucca, Duomo S. Martino
Last pic: Fortezza Vecchia, harbour of Livorno

General advice: watch out for "traffico limitare" signs. I received penalty slips even two years after ignoring them.

I had a lovely time around lake garda 3 years back ( sadly without a morgan). Off-Season is a treat. If you can take the Strada della Forra and visit the roman villa in Sirmione. There's plenty of fun spots around the lake as well but I won't spoil too much :-)

It is definitely worth the visit and the little village at the base used to have a wonderful place to eat - excellent local food and I have good memories of eating a hearty meal, with a side of spätzle as it began to snow outside.

M3W55 - great photos and looks like a superb trip.

And watch out for the bus drivers that turn out their lights at nigh as they approach a corner in the mountains so they can see other cars coming! That way they think they can take both lanes more safely... A trip from Rome across the Apennine mountains to Ascoli Piceno was the most terrifying ride I have ever been on. More scary than riding down a jungle road in a jeep holding my machine gun a just the driver knowing that the enemy had just shot up a convoy a couple of hours earlier.
