The plus 4 auto seems to be fine. It’s very fast but doesn’t have the extreme power of the plus 6 when you really put you foot down. I never had any issues on a test drive in slightly damp conditions

Thanks for the updates. The only real answer would be testing both.

I would test the manual first then the auto. I am not a fan of automatics but the plus four is the exception.

A friend of a friend recently picked his new plus four and on the way home, one of the windscreen wipers fell off! So what’s this all about “no fettling required”. It might be a new model but it’s still a Morgan at heart!

That's why they are supplied with three wipers.

Also you get 3 goes at it. Rather like a one armed bandit.

Yesterday I drove over to Williams in order to try out a Plus Four. Originally, I had asked for the automatic, but that car was delayed having some “development work” done. Anyway, I was happy to try out the manual version, and was given the keys and 30 mins to drive off by myself.

So a few thoughts - the seat felt very supportive for my back, but to would be nicer with more side support. The gearshift felt somewhat heavier than my old Plus 4 (2011 model), but still pretty smooth. The steering also felt heavier than expected, but easy to get used to. The steering wheel, whilst a bit “chunky”, felt good in the hands and very comfortable.

The clutch pedal was almost as stiff as my Plus 4 - on the older car, I could use the clutch as a footrest with no noticeable movement of the pedal. On the Plus Four, it felt like it moved half an inch just resting my foot on it.

I like the digital speed display, but it would be nice to swap the rev counter and speedo around. I asked Lindon about this, and he thought it might be possible.

The battery is in the engine compartment, which makes attaching jump leads more straightforward. It can be trickle-charged through the lighter socket, or an extra cable could be fitted.

I drove in some heavy showers, and didn’t notice any leaks during my half-hour drive.

For a Morgan, the whole car felt very quiet inside - it took me a few minutes to realise the widescreens were not rattling at all!

The car had the standard exhaust, which sounded great from the outside, but a bit quiet inside with the roof up.

The whole thing feels like a solid, modern car - a very different animal from the Traditional version, apart from the stunning looks of course! But, boy does it make you smile too when you press the loud pedal. I had a big grin on my face after just a few seconds of leaving the courtyard at Williams. It reminded me a (little) bit of my first solo in an aircraft - grinning all the way around the circuit, and being surprised at the performance without the weight of the instructor there!

I shall return to Williams to try the automatic soon….

Due to the crap weather, I didn’t take many photos, but here are some cows and things for now!

Does that spare protrude way more than the trads, or is it just the photo angle ?
