I am considering replacing the standard parking light bulbs on my wings and in the headlights with stronger LED 's to use as daytime running lights, these continue to stay on when the headlights are selected. I have heard of some drivers having problems with some MOT testing stations, has anyone on this forum encountered any such problem.

I have daytime running lights that come on with the ignition for many years. I have never had an issue with the MOTs.

I replaced the small pilot light bulbs in the headlamp surround with LEDs and it does illuminate the whole bowl quite well.
I have not wired them up as Daylight Running Lights as then they must extinguish when the headlights are used. I just use "sidelights on" position whenever I think I need it , this gives me 2 LED rear lights , 2 LED wing lights , plus the 2 LED headlamp pilots. Yes it probablly consumes a bit more current than DRLs but I can accept that , and I get the added bonus of folks being alerted to me from front and rear.
I have had no MoT issues , but I do tend to use "Morgan-friendly" MoT stations.

I have never had an MOT issue. The sidelights have digital bulbs & the headlight sidelight also. Both sets are wired permanently on. But that didn't stop someone T boning me in broad daylight.

All position lights are on with ignition on 3.7 Roadsters. Total current drain 20 watts with OE filament bulbs. With your LED setup Andy, even including optional wing light's the total current drain will be significantly less.
Good to hear no MOT issues. The DRL ruling seems a grey area when the after market "DRL" is integrated with headlights and is essentially the position light as well. A stand alone dedicated one would cause more concern I suspect if it didn't conform.

No problems with your plan. ABD a very good supplier to ensure you get the correct bulbs. Like you, I have discounted a DRL conversion. Too hard! And even then you only get fronts. I switch on the side lights manually and drive with them on all the time.

I swapped out my headlights for ones with pilot lights and wired them in with the wing lights. When I switch sidelights on, I have four front LED sidelights on, two rear LED rear lights, four small LED number plate lights, and all the instrument LEDs. Wouldn't worry about battery drain. While on holiday, I left them on for 15 hours, and car would still start!

I have my front fog lights converted to DRL with LED bulbs and have had no problems with MOT. The MOT manual states that DRLs should be tested on cars first registered after 1st March 2018. However you must ensure that any lights fitted to your vehicle conform to Construction and Use regulations

Chris http://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/659324/1You might be interested in this thread. I have now fitted the LED 233 bulbs I listed in the thread in my wing bullet lights and they are excellent. They are also wired so that they are permanently on when engine running. I have also fitted the auto dimming when headlamps dimmed gizmo (I listed from ebay in the thread) and it worked well . Then as I was wrapping the job up I was careless and shorted out the relay Now waiting for a replacement. regards Ian

I have now replaced my wing lights and also the parking bulbs in the headlights with stronger LED's which I intend to use as day time running lights, these lights do not come on with the ignition but when l select park/side lights. My concern was that when selecting head lights the bulbs in the headlights remain on and how this wii be viewed during the MOT, I will know the answer on Wednesday when I'm booked in.
