It may have been a Latin fiasco from a Ferrari point of view but it was still an Italian Team at the top of the podium.

Great for the Tifosi that they at least have something to cheer about.

Great race to watch and well done to McLaren as well.

Sad to see the end of the Williams Family and a few tears in Claire's eyes I suspect.

Can't wait for Mugello. New to all the teams and it will be interesting to see who gets it together first.

Pierre Gasly winning on the same circuit where his best friend and racing partner perished last year was a very special achievement.

If Ferrari can't pull something out of the bag on THEIR own track next week I think they may as well go home and knit.

If you mean Antoine Hubert, he died at Spa Francorchamps which was last weekends race.

But I'm sure it would have been in Pierre's mind this weekend as well.

There you go brain fade - an amazing achievement nevertheless and his look upwards on the podium said it all.

Its sad that a great British effort by McLaren were denied a win by the farce of the safety car and tyre change. Alfa Tauri were lucky.

But Howard,

McLaren would not have won anyway without the Red Flag issue. Hamilton was walking away with it.

So they had some good luck and bad luck on the day.

Even Sainz admitted afterwards that 2nd place was probably where he would have finished without the race issues.

Bitter sweet for me, I would have loved to see McLaren return to the top step but still happy for Gasly given all his tribulations over the last couple of seasons.

Quite amused that Hamilton missed the Knee Bending ceremony !!!

Hamilton and Giovinazzi both passed two signs showing a pit lane closure. No excuse. My only doubts are the timings of red flag and pit lane closure. The crashed car was in a position where it would have to be pushed down part of the pit lane, mainly the approach. Where it was initially , yes, vulnerable, but surely the sequence should have been..
Close pit lane.
Cars pass the entrance, virtual safety car for that lap and more until pit lane was clear. Safety car to bunch up not needed. Radio messages to stay out until the crashed car was cleared.
OK, snap decisions needed so the Mercedes call “box box” with Hamilton so close to the pit lane was premature but a reaction thing. Hamilton did see the closure signs yet came in. His error compounded by lack of clarity from Mercedes who also appeared to miss the closure decision. Looks like their brains were in strategy mode causing the lapse.
It made for a good race though!

Great to see the mix up in the places and real race as a result.

After a lot of bad press I hope this gives Gasly the boost he needs.

So happy for McLaren and the pink panthers.

Sad to see that Lewis was able to make up so many places (good for him) yet Bottas was just stuck in 5th in the last stint, what happened there? Was he not able to make the most of a much quicker car at all?

AlphaTauri (Sauber of old) winning was brilliant, I think I saw Peter Sauber on the pit wall, that must have been heart warming for him. But I am going to guess that another Italian team winning will just make it worse given Ferrari were no where and did not make it to the end.

Thank heavens for the crash work they have done on the cars and barriers.

Alistar, you mixed your Alfas! wink

Alpha Tauri, formerly Toro Rosso (italian for "red bull") is an italian team that was for many years named after its owner Giancarlo MINARDI. The Sauber team is currently the Alfa Romeo team and is still a Swiss team, not an italian one.

Pretty much agree with Alastair
Mercedes must be frustrated at the pit call and Bottas lack of competitiveness. Hamilton was in control but after the penalty had a cracking drive to pick up a couple of points.
McClaren got two cars right up there at the finish, Carlos Sainz must be wondering if he made the right decision about Ferrari
The pink cars, or old Mercedes, did well they have been at the front of the grid and finishing races well all season.
Renault were there or there abouts. Ricciardo could do well in the McClaren next year, he's one of the most personable drivers on the grid.
Red Bull lost the plot in this one (unusual), I wonder if they are more affected by the loss of "party mode" than they may have thought being as they were one of the driving forces (pun intended) to remove it. Top marks to the RB staff who all came out to applaud the Alpha Team.
Alpha Tauri must be over the moon, particularly happy for Gasley, he deserved it and the other drivers seemed pleased for him, which says a lot.
Sad to see the Williams families last race, I hope there is a role for them in F1's governance, they have a wealth of experience from the front and rear of the grid. The team needed to do something to revive its competitiveness though.
Ferrari need a top to bottom shake up, no way with the money they spend they should be where they are. Poor engines, poor reliability, poor team decisions, funny how they fell away from being competitive after the FIA/F1 decision re their engines and possible cheating last year. Watching Williams overtaking them, very wrong. Surely they have to improve this season and next before the big 2022 changes come in
