Something to check for under the bonnet:
I recently noticed the ignition system mount had broken away from the chassis where it was "welded" on.
This has been commented on before here, but though it was worth pointing out again as the factory is still getting this wrong as of my March 2020 build. I hope the rest of the welds are better than this!

Luckily I was on my way to get my 1000 mile service with the marvelous Stefan who is the mechanic and M3W expert at Morgan West in Santa Monica, and he also pointed out that the factory had positioned the spark plug cables where the bonnet was rubbing on them.

Here's the re-positioned cables and the re-welded mount, all carried out under warranty. He's a good mechanic but just a moderate painter!

I wonder why Morgan need a heavy metal mounting plate for the ignition system?

I find it disappointing that 8 years on MMC is still getting the simple/basics wrong. confused

As for the broken (non) welds, I would be very concerned, as I don't imagine there are many welders that assemble each chassis. Likely just one per chassis. An experienced and competent welder wouldn't make that sort of error (says the man who is NOT a competent welder, at least not with any consistency).

Very disappointing indeed, hand built yes, but I think under strict time limits. May I suggest you fill in the original holes for the spark leads.

Cold weld... "They all do that, sah".
I love the car, but some of the Mickey Mouse stuff irks me.

Good idea, thanks for the advice. Will take care of it.

no excuse, but I think the chassis construction is outsourced? Needs some tighter QC.

It's not good that M3W's are being produced with the same faults at the end of their production run as they had at the start. The route of the ignition leads is an easy thing to rectify but it never has been changed in production. There are a number of other examples, fuel indication, noisy bevel boxes, fuel pumps.....etc. etc. The purchasers of the (expensive?) run out M3W's will need to spend some more money on them to make them reliable before they start to use them. That is unless they just look at them in a garage, when they will be very reliable.
