I agree, however we have only ever used G&W for the Mog.

You dont say how much you have been quoted. My wife' first ever own car insurance was for a 2007 1.8 4/4 was £280 with limited annual mileage (3000) & guaranteed value.
When we changed to the 2.9 Roadster one year later it only rose to £320 which was excellent. I'm not sure how much it increases if you increase the mileage limit?

My current car (1.6 cvh)is £151 and the 2003 1.8 would be £280
Also my current tax is £170 /year and the 2003 would be £220 which makes no sense to me, I thought it depended n emissions and the Zetec would be lower. I'm a bit baffled.

My current 2009 4/4 Sport includes Green card, unlimited annual mileage and spouse driving at £236.
When I last insured a 1994 +8 four years ago under the same conditions as the sport it was £260.
I am also 50 going on 60.
Try giving Headley a call on 01420 5942342 they are Morgan Insurance Consultants and play with agreed values etc.

Good Luck

How did you get £170 tax on a pre-2001 car?
Over 1549cc it's £215...
Just about to renew the 90 as it's coming home from its refurb on Saturday smile

I, too, use G&W for the Mog. Agreed value, salvage rights etc. AND a nice sensible price on a classic policy. They do advertise in Miscellany and are one of the MSCC preferred suppliers.

Cheers,

No worries, but you'll need an extra £10 frown

The emissions based tax started in March 01 and was revised again somewhere around 2006. Haven't got the link here, but all the bands are listed on DirectGov somewhere.

If you want a Mog with lower tax, you're looking at a 4/4 Sport - presently £125 - a price difference of approx 1.5 tanks of fuel compared to the 1.8.

Cheers,
