Peter G Thanks for that info.
Could someone with greater knowledge of the app help with the following How much battery does it use up? I’m thinking my battery eating IPhone here. Is the QR reader built into the app or separate? If the user is anonymous, do they lose that anonymity if they order a test or check symptoms?
Thank you O’ wise ones

To your questions: Battery... my iPhone X2 is a couple of years old, it still manages a full day. I charge it every night. I doubt the app will use much power, but time will tell. The QR reader is already in your phone software, using the camera. All the app does is grab information from the code and store it. You have to tell the App to read a code. Anonymity: unclear, this is one point that concerns me. If I start getting a lot of contacts that I feel are incorrect I'll just delete the app.

It doesn't appear to be using any additional battery life.
The QR reader is built in.
The date remains anonymous and alerts are received only if you have been in close proximity to someone who has tested positive for Covid. To confirm a positive test, a user must enter their unique test code into their phone - that then alerts other phones that the owner has had a positive test. You would then be pinged and advised to isolate. The data remains anonymous.

Going to wait until some of the population have completed the beta testing and sufferred all the inconvenience of the inevitable false alerts and pointless isolating.
Then I'll probably install it.

Then I'll probably install it. That's the spirit!

Then I'll probably install it. And that’s the attitude that helps it spread. I think that ship has already sailed. I need an app I can trust. If I have to isolate, 300 kids have to go without a teacher for two weeks, 280 Yr11 kids have to go without a Pastoral Lead for two weeks (and with the current uncertainty they need all the help they can get), and staff have to fill in and cover all my classes adding more work in an already very stressful situation. I want to be 100% sure it works, and to be honest, the Govs track record so far does not fill me with confidence. I haven't said I won't install it, just that I want to wait a bit and see how well it works.

I had an interesting 'conversation; with a one of the regulars in the pub last night (suitably socially distanced - there were only 6 of us in there and he was about 4 metres away). He was trying to convince me that he did 'specialist ' work with Glaxo-Kline and AstraZeneca. He said he was going to refuse any vaccine because it contained microchips and he wasn't going to allow him or his children to be tracked by the Government. He also said that future overseas travel would be only permitted for those who had been vaccinated. I did try and put forward some alternative views but it was falling on deaf ears

I like the Corona19 virus more and more.
It is such a great tool to identify true idiots.
