No chance of getting an indicator feed from the fuse box as the common fused power feed is before the BCU, which then outputs feeds to each set of indicators directly, green/red n/s, green/white o/s. There are junctions where the feeds split to accommodate the side repeaters, so likely hookup points. For the brake light hookup you could use the brake switch connection, green/purple wire.

Very interesting & thanks Sid

Did you have to trace the connections all the way to the lights & use the original bullet points. or find something closer in the fuse box ??

I used the side repeater connectors under the wings, and a feed from one of the brake lights. I've used one of the front wing to inner wing screws as the earth, and made it so it's easy enough to access the permanently live feed on the starter motor for when programming the unit.

I seem to recall the hardest part of it all was soldering the very fine wires supplied with the unit into bullet connectors, otherwise it was pretty straightforward - and certainly worthwhile.

Thanks Sid, that sounds like how I did it on the old S1 Roadster, but without all the elasictrickery bits to worry about

The one I bought has decent size wires so easy to fit crimp connectors to. I used a piggy back spade for the brake switch connection, and then bullets for the indicators.

Thanks Richard, very straightforward connections it's just a PiA to make a really neat job of hiding the additional wires which I dislike in the engine bay

I was trained to fix radar and telecommunications equipment right down to electronic component level, a system would have tens of thousands of components, and yet I look at this diagram and think...not for me!

In fairness, that diagram looks far more complicated than the one I got with mine smile

How did you fit the buzzer to both sides? Was it via a common earth off the indicators?
John

John as I remember it was just a case of connecting a wire to the feed of each rear indicator and another to earth. The buzzer I fitted in the spare wheel compartment. When you activate the indicators power goes to the buzzer.

I have fitted an audicator to my 3.o litre Roadster S1.
The indicators don't self cancel when used on roundabout exits for instance.
I just ran some wires down to the front indicators and the brake light feed.
the small box of tricks/bleeper unit is screwed to the underside of the dashboard
works a treat. even the hazard lights beep for fifty times and are then silent.
i found that out this week when i ran out of petrol on the M6 because of the USELESS FUEL GAUGE.
Fortunately the AA came to my rescue within 20 minutes.

It's easy to understand your confusion. The diagram omits to show the convention of putting a dot where intersecting wires are connected. No dot where the wires just cross diagramatically.

I have put a sounder onto the indicator relay of my '74 4/4. It makes such a racket that pedestrians in the street wonder what the noise is. It's a mechanical device (think relay that cycles it's own power) and sounds aweful. I must change it for something subtler.

As a point of interest does the Audicator work with hazard flashers? Or should I say is inactive when hazards are on? Ooops just noticed Paul's post above!
