I know people who won't pay over a fiver for wine.
I know people who won't pay under £20 for wine.
And all points between.

The trick with wine is to find good drinking wines for food which are great value for money. Sometimes the expensive stuff can be disappointing, so my red preferences tend to be Argentina, Chile, South of France, Rhone, and a few from Australia, NZ and California.
For white we have almost all from Alsace, although some Italian whites are good, along with white Rhone.
Bordeaux is overpriced but a few of the Cab Sav blends are not bad value.
Burgundy we just don't get what the fuss is about.

Coo. That’s serious wine. What time shall I come over (in a socially distanced way, of course).

Lunch last Wednesday, with friends, they recently moved back to the UK after 12 years in Europe and found several cases of wine in store.

So it's all gone now then!

A quick trip down to our cellar reveals some proper Italian wines
