Unfortunately, OAT coolant shouldn't be used in Ford Crossflow engine due to its propensity to damage the older types of gaskets and seals.

Agreed. I found this out shortly after flushing and adding OAT
Thankfully only for a weekend and drained and put the proper stuff in.
I recently gave my system a good flush out with Thermocure. I'd given the block a good flushing in both directions before hand, so clean water was coming through, but the Thermocure managed to loosen and remove a whole ton of crap.
I don't have a manual fan, but all through the summer (I was doing some big miles - went to Cornwall and back twice which was usually fast dual carriageway, interspersed with stationary queues) the electric fan only came on a couple of times. The temp sender is pretty accurate as I changed to a solid state voltage stabiliser.
Re-routed the heater hoses, so that the bleed screw is now much higher and getting some good temps through the heater matrix at last.
AND fitted a new water pump/gasket and am no longer losing water (was losing about 1/4 litre every 200 miles).
